A Market in Fez | 菲斯市场

mf-2.jpg

What's up Hivers! Again it's MarketFriday. :) This time please follow me to a bustling souk in Fez, the charming cultural capital of Morocco. The warm sunlight was shining through the long wooden top to the crowds and stands underneath, and I found it mesmerizing. Hope you would feel the atmosphere from these black and white captures.

又到周五市场时间啦,这次请跟随我的脚步,到摩洛哥古都菲斯的一处市场来看看。一缕缕温暖的阳光透过木制的镂空顶棚,洒在下面的人群和摊位上,营造出特别的气氛。

A market with few words but beautifully shown and suggested by your black and white photos. Perfect!

Thank you for your feedback! :) I do enjoy telling stories with photos, but often don't know what to say.

I have to agree with you there, Donica! @itchyfeetdonica The patterns that were filtered through via the sunlight were mesmerizing, you just cannot stop looking at those tiny holes shadows, and, it truly gives it a mysterious look to the souk, don't you think? They are such treasure troves of Old World markets, still in existence today.

I always find the spices most intriguing and the thing that captures my interest. I say that, but, it is the sounds, sights, and smells, people talking amongst themselves, some people walking through the souk with purpose, and others, a meeting and greeting place. Has much changed in them since the pandemic? I have not been anywhere since last March. I almost missed the shutdown of the US but, such a lean margin. Had I known it was that bad, I would have moved it a little quicker to find my way home. But, I was only in South America, but, the communications were not great.

I am eyeing the bag of snails, the beauty is all in the shell, but the meat inside is delectable! Thank you so much for taking us on this trip with you. Souks are my favorite place to go! (One of!) I love the concept of #MarketFriday and how our cultures differ and then again, how much they are alike. Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages. Along with the fact of what is normal for where you live? These are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I had hoped that posting here will familiarize you with the world around you just a little bit more. Viewing it from a more personal level as opposed to the newsworthy level gives me a better understanding of the people and a view that is often not seen on television. Sometimes, it seems like I learn more on some social media about a certain incident than what the news tells me. These rules are for people that may read your post so they will know about #MarketFriday!

Rules of the Road

  1. Go to the market, or anywhere that you pay money for a service.
    Take pictures! Be creative!
  2. Tell us a little bit about the market or the event. What brought you there? What did you buy? How much did it cost?
  3. Post the picture(s) Of course, you should tell a little bit about the ones you post
  4. Use the MarketFriday Community Platform to post #hive-196308 (this is not required, but appreciated)
  5. Drop the link into the MarketFriday comment section so I can find it
  6. Following me and reblogging the post so more see it would be appreciated !! Not a rule, just appreciated, more vision for more views on your posts!
  7. You must put #MarketFriday by @dswigle somewhere on your post. If you don't and someone reads it, there is nothing to tie #MarketFriday to that post.
  8. Please only one post each week. Believe it not, I run out of voting power if you put in many more than that.

As always, please remember! #MarketFriday loves you!

Thank you for such poetic and vivid description of the market! You did what words failed me.
Hope the situation is getting better ASAP in your place, so you can be together with your loved ones back at home. I'm in Belgium and haven't got out of Europe since the pandemic. Most residents here have been vaccinated, and we still wear masks in public.

Oh, I did get home and have not left the States since! Sadly! Most have gotten vaccinated here and still wear masks in public, depending on the State you live in. We are allowed to travel freely anywhere in the States, and even Cruise on the ships, so it isn't as bad as Europe right now, however, winter will be upon us and I have a feeling the numbers will grow then.

Le sigh.
