The SUP Adventure from Camotes Island to Mactan Island in Cebu
Hi ASEAN Hive friends!
Let me share some photos and the stories behind them with you.
In 2015, I was invited to be the photographer of an event held in Cebu to cover the SUP adventure from Camotes Island to Mactan Island.
Gathering at BE Resorts Mactan
We started from BE Resorts Mactan, that is, to gather everybody taking a boat from Mactan Island to Camotes Island. The next day, these five paddlers had to paddle from Camotes Island to Mactan for long hours. That was the challenge.
As the photographer, I took photos of them using my Nikon D5100 and iPad. I had to take as many photos as I could.
Leaving BE Resorts Mactan, we had to come back the next day.
Groufie photos of the whole crew.
It was a chill ride from Mactan Island enjoying the breeze and the splash of the sea water.
We were approaching Camotes Island.
Camotes Island arrival
We arrived at Camotes Island in front of Santiago Bay Garden Resort. We spent the night sleeping in the tent.
In the background, there are several hotels and homestays where you can stay for a few days. There is also a restaurant.
Since it was high tide, we enjoyed the afternoon doing the SUP. Believe me, I was really enjoying my time here.
Of course, I did my SUP on the island.
I just couldn't help it to take a selfie.
There I was enjoying my SUP afternoon.
Yes, I got my training in Cebu.
That's me again.
Dinner time
Dinner time, it was his birthday. We ordered nice meals for dinner. Deymn, I miss Filipino food and I miss eating two cups of rice. Hahaha!
The perks of being a digital nomad. Yes, I was so lucky to get invited by this event. I had flexible time that I could just bring my laptop with me and my camera. And I could join a few events around Cebu.
But hey, the electricity was very limited at that time. I was able to work on my laptop for a few hours, but we had to sleep early as we needed to wake up early the next day.
While they enjoyed themselves drinking beer, I was happy to drink water or soda. LOL.
Wake up time
I don't have photos of us sleeping in the tent because the electricity was off on the island.
The crew had to paddle as early as possible while it was still high tide.
The crew started to paddle
We left at 6 AM. Of course, for safety, we had to follow the paddlers in case a few of them could not finish the journey.
Put on sunscreen cream, wear long sleeves, and wear sunglasses while paddling. By the way, it started to get wavy. I began to throw up when my phone rang. A friend invited me to go to Manila, all expenses paid. Hahahaha! Ok, that's for another story.
We left Camotes Island like this. The water is clear. Yes, Camotes Island is truly a paradise.
It's good to reminisce about an adventure from 10 years ago. Wow! I could tell my kids that their mom was an adventurer. Hahaha!

What a beautiful paradise in Cebu, my second home. I miss the city so much. You had such a nice adventure. The water was so calm and it made your paddling adventure smooth and safe.
OH wow, taga dyan ka sa Camotes Island?
Ay no, Cebu is my dad's hometown. We always had our summer vacation in Cebu before.
Camotes Island is a beautiful place! Before I left my job in the media, I was once a travel vlogger, so I have always been fascinated by beautiful scenery and stories of exciting adventures. Only that I had to undergo a year of hiatus for my healing from postpartum anxiety that I stopped traveling and exploring beautiful places. How I wish to revisit that side of me and begin traveling again. I wish to visit this place in Cebu. Thank you for the sneak peek. 😉💜
Oh, too bad nag stop ka to travel. Balik ka mag travel, and if possible to travel as a family, do it. Medyo much more hassle nga lang mag travel as a family kesa solo travel dati na sarili ko lang iniisip. XD
