Pinocchio 2022 Movie Review (ENG / SPA)
Hello dear cinephiles friends, I hope you are very well! Earlier today was the day to watch movies in the company of my mom and we decided to watch the new Disney movie Pinocchio, a live-action version of the 1940 animated movie and I would like to share my opinion with you, I hope you like it.
¡Hola queridos amigos cinéfilos, espero estén muy bien! Hoy temprano fué dia de ver películas en compañía de mi mamá y nos animamos a ver la nueva pelicula de Disney Pinocchio, versión live-action de la pelicula animada de 1940 y me gustaría compartir mi opinión con ustedes, espero les guste.
Let's start talking about the plot which is basically the same as the animated movie but it has many changes, the movie starts with Gepetto painting Pinocchio, then he wants him to come to life and the Blue Fairy grants his wish. One day while going to school he meets "Honest Juan" who, in the company of the silent cat called "Gideon" who, seeing that Pinocchio is a living puppet, try to convince him not to go to school and that he better become famous in the Stromboli puppet show. The first change I noticed in the movie is that in this version Pinocchio does arrive at school but is kicked out by the teacher which causes Honest Juan and Gideon to take him to the Stromboli show.
Empecemos hablando sobre la trama que es básicamente la misma de la pelicula animada pero tiene muchos cambios, la pelicula empieza con Gepetto pintando a Pinocho, luego desea que cobre vida y el Hada Azul le concede su deseo. Un día mientras va a la escuela conoce al "Honrado Juan" que en compañía del gato silente llamado "Gideon" los cuales al ver que Pinocho es una marioneta viviente tratan de convencerlo de no ir a la escuela y que mejor se vuelva famoso en el show de marionetas de Stromboli. El primer cambio que noté en la pelicula es que en esta versión Pinocho si llega a la escuela pero es echado de allí por el maestro lo que causa que el Honrado Juan y Gideon lo lleven al espectáculo de Stromboli.
Another change that I want to talk about is that of the Blue Fairy, since as you know in the original animated version she is white-skinned, blonde and with blue eyes, while in this version they chose a fairly dark-haired actress. I'm not racist or anything but was it really necessary to change the appearance of the fairy? His participation was also much less than in the animated version since he only appears at the beginning, since in the scene where Jiminy Cricket and Pinocchio escape from Stromboli they are not helped by the fairy as in the animated version, but they manage to escape on their own as Pinocchio intentionally grows his nose to reach the key.
Otro cambio del que quiero hablar es el del Hada Azul, ya que como saben en la versión animada original es de piel blanca, rubia y con ojos azules mientras que en esta versión escogieron a una actriz bastante morena. No soy racista ni nada pero ¿era realmente necesario cambiar la apariencia del hada?. También su participación fué mucho menor que en la versión animada ya que solamente aparece al principio, ya que en la escena dónde escapan de Stromboli Pepito Grillo y Pinocho no son ayudados por el hada como en la versión animada, sino que logran escapar por cuenta propia ya que Pinocho hace crecer su nariz intencionalmente para alcanzar la llave.
Other notorious changes in this version, is for example that Gepetto to go look for Pinocchio sells all his watches to buy a boat and go look for him at the "Pleasure Island" which does not happen in the animated version, Pinocchio does not go looking either Gepetto underwater as in the animation but he and Jiminy Cricket are helped by Sofia, a friendly seagull who only appears in this version. Also in this version, Pinocchio finds Gepetto before being swallowed by the whale but before reuniting they are swallowed by it, and the whale that appears here does not really look like a whale but rather a sea monster since it has a crest and tentacles.
Otros cambios notorios de esta versión, es por ejemplo que Gepetto para ir a buscar a Pinocho vende todos sus relojes para comprar un bote e ir a buscarlo a la "Pleasure Island" cosa que no pasa en la versión animada, Pinocho tampoco va a buscar a Gepetto bajo el agua como en la animación sino que el y Pepito Grillo son ayudados por Sofía, una gaviota amistosa la cual solamente sale en esta versión. También en esta versión Pinocho encuentra a Gepetto antes de ser tragado por la ballena pero antes de reunirse son tragados por ella, y la ballena que sale aquí en realidad no tiene pinta de ballea sino de monstruo marino ya que tiene cresta y tentáculos.
Other changes they made in the movie is the escape of the "whale" since they are not only expelled thanks to the idea of Pinocchio's intentional fire to make the monster open its mouth, but they escape thanks to Pinocchio swimming faster than flash and manage to reach the shore, this time it is not Pinocchio who drowns but Gepetto, although he later manages to react. The change that bothered me the most is that Pinocchio doesn't turn into a real boy like he does in the animated version.
Otros cambios que hicieron en la pelicula es el escape de la "ballena" ya que no solamente son expulsados gracias a la idea del fuego intencional de Pinocho para hacer que el monstruo abra la boca, sino que escapan gracias a que Pinocho nada más rápido que flash y logran llegar a la orilla, también esta vez no es Pinocho el que se ahoga sino Gepetto, aunque luego logra reaccionar. El cambio que más me molestó sin duda es que Pinocho no se convierte enun niño de verdad como pasa en la versión animada.
In general, I feel that this movie does not have the magic that the animated version has, which seems much better to me, however, to have an entertaining time, it is fine. I liked the photography and special effects and I also really liked how they showed the plugar "Pleasure Island" where children become donkeys since they made it more colorful, with fireworks and amusement park attractions, it also caught my attention having seen watches from other Disney movies that were not supposed to have come out when Pinocchio came out (which was the second classic released by Disney) like "Sleeping Beauty", "The Lion King", "Dumbo" among others which seemed to me rare.
En general siento que esta película no tiene la magia que tiene la versión animada la cual me parece mucho mejor sin embargo, para pasar un rato entretenido esta bien. La fotografía y efectos especiales me gustaron y también me gustó mucho cómo mostraron la "Isla del Placer" plugar dónde los niños se convierten en burros ya que la hiceron más colorida, con fuegos artificiales y atracciones de parque de diversiones, también me llamó la atención el haber visto relojes de otras peliculas de Disney que se supone no habían salido cuando salió Pinocho (que el el segundo clásico lanzado por Disney) como "La Bella Durmiente", "El Rey León", "Dumbo" entre otras lo cual me pareció raro.
Jiminy Cricket's design didn't seem bad to me, although it's different from the animated version, as well as Pinocchio's (which looks a lot like the animated version), Cleo the goldfish, Figaro the cat and the characterization of Tom Hanks as Gepetto I also liked them since Tom Hanks seemed very sweet to me, Cleo's face is sweet and I found Figaro very cute and sweet, also the inclusion of new characters such as the seagull Sofia, the puppeteer Fabiana and the puppet Sabina I liked it because they managed to give her a nice touch to the movie.
El diseño de Jiminy Cricket no me pareció malo aunque es distinto a la versión animada, así como el de Pinocho (que se parece mucho al de la versión animada), Cleo la pez dorado, Figaro el gato y la carectización de Tom Hanks como Gepetto también me gustaron ya que Tom Hanks me pareció muy tierno, el rostro de Cleo es dulce y Fígaro me pareció muy lindo y tierno, también la inclusión de nuevos personajes como la gaviota Sofia, la marionetera Fabiana y la marioneta Sabina me gustó porque lograron darle un buen toque a la pelicula.
I liked the soundtrack since it includes songs from the animated version and new ones. As I said before, if we see this movie with the expectation that it will be exactly the same as the animated version, it will be a bit disappointing, however, if we think that it is another version, it can be entertaining to have a good time with the family, so I would like to invite everyone those who still do not see it to see it, thus they manage to have their own opinion of the movie.
El soundtrack me gustó ya que incluye canciones de la versión animada y otras nuevas. Como dije antes si vemos esta pelicula con la espectativa de que sea exactamente igual a la versión animada será un poco decepcionante sin mbargo, si pensamos que es otra versión puede resultar entretenida para pasar un buen rato en familia, así que me gustaría invitar a todos los que aún no la ven a verla, así logran tener su propia opinión de la pelicula.

En estos casos es muy difícil que los “live actions” tumben a las originales, como tú dices no tienen la misma magia, sin embargo me parece que está en particular da la talla además de que como es de esperar la animación es hermosa. Excelente post salu2 😎
Es una pena que está adaptación no termine aportando mucho a la historia, no obstante, hay que reconocer que en varios aspectos está muy bien hecha, especialmente cuando se trata de la música y el cgi, que no siento que sea objetivamente malo.
Entonces llegó el hada protectora, y viendo que Pinocho se moría le puso un corazón de fantasía y pinocho sonriendo despertó 🎶🎶, recordando una canción infantil....
Ahora viendo lo que escribiste en tu post concuerdo contigo, una trama no se puede cambiar, sería quitarle la esencia a la película, a la comiquita, a todo. Hay muchas cosas que se deben mantener estándar. Concuerdo contigo :) sobre el caso del hada.
I know how annoying it can be when something from an original animation gets tweaked in the remake of the same film. You don't have to be racist to be annoyed by these little changes lol, these things have been happening in recent films but I guess it's the movie industry's way of being inclusive with the minority races. This isn't bad but people are beginning to complain and I think they should take note of that.
I don't remember seeing the original and I don't know the full pinocchio story but I recently got this one and I plan on seeing it soon.

This is the version with Tom Hanks. I've seen so much of the Pinocchio story, in different versions, that it no longer appeals to me. Maybe I'll watch it with just Tom Hans playing Gepetto. I wish someone would do a really different version, but from what you say, it's the same story, without much change. I don't think another version is needed, by the way, I think another Pinocchio movie (animated) is coming out this year.
Hola, he tenido muchas ganas de ver esta película, la verdad los cambios para mi no son un problemas por ejemplo Dumbo fue una película totalmente diferente a la versión animada, me imagino que esa es la idea de Disney hacer una película diferente cambiando lo que para aquella época era lo adecuado pero que ya ahora no es necesario (como en el caso del hada azul).

I think disney is doing a lot of changing the ethnicity of characters...but the little mermaid will be more shocking than the fairy in my point of view since it is going to be the main character that is going to change!

Bueno yo no recuerdo mucho esta película en versión animada, así que podría verla sin esperar mucho, aun así no me llama la atención, y creo que van a sacar otra versión, no estoy segura, donde Pinocho es más real, habría que ver, por lo menos resulto entretenida, saludos.
La tengo pendiente en la lista, la tomaré como un clásico, tiene un actor que me encanta pero ya he leído que no hay nada de extraordinario en está película. Gracias por la reseña @iuliapetit2711
