Celebrating My Next Birthday With The Less Privileged

Whenever it's my birthday, I usually wake up to a lot of birthday messages and calls from family, friends and well-wishers (even when I never pre-informed them). Even if it doesn't come with gifts, it gives me so much joy to know that someone somewhere still cares. It's not about a gift or throwing party, but a little care and kindness. It gives an unforgettable and amazing feeling, and I like reciprocating kind gestures. So, I try to celebrate others too whenever it's theirs. Knowing it's only celebrated once in a year. Except for those born on 29th February, whose birthdays come once every 4 years.

Most times I don't celebrate my own birthdays, not even a post on my socials, not that I'm not grateful for such a gift of a new year but because I feel satisfied with the ones done by my loved ones. Interestingly, I celebrated my birthday last week (Monday June 8th) and I decided to make an appreciation post on my Facebook page in addition to the one done by my husband and friends. It was so beautiful. As if I knew a question like this would come at this time, hahaha.

Thinking about my next birthday, I would like to celebrate it in a totally different way from what it used to be. Something I'd never done before but have been thinking about for a long time. So, by God's grace my next birthday would be celebrated with the less privileged. I would first visit the orphanage home, sing and pray with/for them. Then, share whatever gift I have with them. Afterwards, I'd proceed to the home of the handicap and spend a moment with them. It would be a great joy and honour to see that people in this category share in my blessings irrespective of how little it would be. It would be a memorable birthday celebration for me.
