Living With My Ex is a drama, romance, and comedy film. Directed by Peyton Reed. Its original name was "The break-up". Starring the well-known actor Vince Vaughn as Gary Grobowski and Jennifer Aniston as Brooke Meyers. This movie was released in 2006 and produced by Universal Studios. The movie starts with a baseball game that Gary attends with one of his friends, once there he meets Brooke, who was sitting a few seats away from him. Being love, at first sight, he does everything he can to get her attention and distract her gaze from the boring one she was having at the time. At the beginning of the story, we are introduced to a series of cute moments and experiences that Gary and Brooke shared as a couple, visiting places and having fun with friends. They buy an apartment in which they live together for a while.

Protagonizada por el conocido actor Vince Vaughn como Gary Grobowski y Jennifer Aniston como Brooke Meyers. Esta película fue estrenada en el 2006 y producida por Universal Studios. La película inicia con un partido de béisbol al que Gary asiste con uno de sus amigos, una vez ahí conoce a Brooke, quien estaba sentada a unos puestos de él. Siendo amor a primera vista, este hace todo lo posible para llamar su atención y distraer su mirada de la aburrida que ella estaba teniendo en ese momento. Al inicio de la historia nos presentan una serie de lindos momentos y experiencias en los que Gary y Brooke compartían como pareja, visitando lugares y divirtiéndose con amigos. Compran un departamento en el que viven juntos por un tiempo.

It is at this point that we learn a little of their lives, Brooke works as a sort of art dealer and Gary as a tour guide. A series of events are triggered to introduce the main plot. More specifically, Gary's inattention to Brooke's requests and Brooke's lack of communication lead to a heated argument in their apartment. Tense moments were lived, just before the arrival of the guests to a special dinner, they had prepared for their families, which they were interested in presenting.

Momentos tensos los que se vivieron, justamente antes de la llegada de los invitados a una cena especial que tenían preparada para sus familiares, los cuales estaban interesados en presentar.

As the days went by, the situation became tenser and tenser between the two of them, to the point of affecting relationships as friends, family, and acquaintances. Gary and Brooke's love for each other was slowly withering and separation was inevitable. Far from trying to remedy things in a civilized manner, both Gary and Brooke began to try to object to and express divergent views of each other's opinions. From Gary implementing a pool table in the living room to Brooke trying to make him jealous of other men. By this point, the relationship was irretrievably broken. Not only that, it was beginning to affect their work and personal relationships. A friend of the couple, in one of their many discussions during a game, decides to talk to them and express his concerns. And being his sales agent, he proposes to them to sell the apartment they were living in together, because Gary did not want to leave, and neither did Brooke.

Con el pasar de los días la situación cada vez se iba tornando más y más tensa entre ambos, llegando al punto de afectar relaciones como amigos, familiares y conocidos. El amor que Gary y Brooke se marchitaba lentamente y era inevitable una separación. Muy lejos de intentar remediar las cosas de manera civilizada, Tanto Gary como Brooke comienzan a tratar de objetar y expresar puntos de vista divergentes a las opiniones del otro. Desde implementar una mesa de billar en la sala por parte de Gary hasta tratar de darle celos con otros hombres por parte de Brooke. Ya para este punto la relación estaba irremediablemente rota. Un amigo de la pareja, en una de sus tantas discusiones durante un juego, toma la decisión de hablar con ellos y expresar sus preocupaciones. Y siendo éste su agente de ventas les propone vender el departamento que juntos habitaban, debido a que Gary no quería irse ni Brooke tampoco.

With the consent of both, the request is granted and while a client shows up, Brooke takes the initiative to invite Gary to a concert, to reminisce about old times. To which Gary agrees to go, Gary, who stands her up at the time, reflects on all the things he did wrong during the relationship and the kinds of things he never did, that perhaps she waited so long to hear them or for him to do. Upon returning home to find a shattered and hurt Brooke tries to talk to her, to which she also expresses that she always kept quiet about what she felt, the lack of detail and lack of attention he gave her was not left behind in the conversation. This is how Brooke, after talking to her boss, gets some inspiration and decides to get away from it all and take a well-deserved vacation after all the stress that all this had caused her. Brooke leaves, returning some time later and reuniting with her former love for a while. Both of them are determined to forget, healed, and improved their attitudes. They arrange a date without commitment, leaving a possible reconciliation as a final step.

Con el consentimiento de ambos se accede a la solicitud y mientras un cliente aparece, Brooke toma la iniciativa de invitar a Gary a un concierto, para rememorar viejos tiempos. Al cual Gary acepta ir Gary, quien la deja plantada en ese momento, reflexiona sobre todas las cosas que hizo mal durante la relación y la clase de cosas que nunca hizo, que quizás ella esperó tanto para escucharlas o que él hiciera. Al regresar así a casa encontrándose con una destrozada y herida, Brooke trata de hablar con ella, a lo cual ella expresa también que siempre callo lo que en realidad sentía, lo poco detallista y falta de atención que él le daba no quedaron atrás en la plática. Es así como Brooke después de hablar con su jefa consigue algo de inspiración y decide alejarse de todo y tomarse unas merecidas vacaciones después de todo el estrés que le había ocasionado todo esto. Brooke se marcha, volviendo tiempo después y reencontrándose con quien fue su amor por un tiempo. Ya ambos decididos a olvidar, sanado y mejorado sus actitudes. Pautan una salida sin compromiso, dejando como final una posible reconciliación.

The film is very good. It talks a lot about how keeping silent about what you feel is also harmful. And that a relationship is more beautiful when everything is mutual, the affection, the intensity, not just the problems or the work. It's not just being with that person in bad times and then when he/she is in good times treat us as he/she pleases. And to shut him/her up. Accept it simply because we love it, but where is the love we have for ourselves? I like that you touched on this topic, keeping quiet about what you want to say or do is almost as bad as imposing on the other person what you want to do and that it is always what you want. It touched my little heart 🥺 for many reasons. And certainly, the scene where Brooke cries hurts a little. She is right when she says that she wanted things to come to her without asking for them and that if he wanted something he just had to ask for it.

La película es muy buena. Habla mucho sobre si uno calla lo que siente también es perjudicial. Y que una relación es más bonita cuando todo es mutuo, el cariño, la intensidad, no solo los problemas o el trabajo. No es solo estar con esa persona en las malas y ya cuando esté de buenas tratarnos como le plazca. Y callarlo. Aceptarlo simplemente porque lo amamos, pero ¿Dónde queda el amor que tenemos a nosotros mismos? Me gusta que tocaran ese tema, el callar lo que en realidad uno quiere decir o hacer es casi tan malo como imponer a la otra persona lo que uno quiere hacer y que siempre sea lo que uno quiera. Me llegó muy al corazoncito 🥺 por muchas razones. Y ciertamente la escena donde Brooke llora, duele un poco. Ella tiene razón cuando dice que quería que le salieran las cosas sin necesidad de pedirlo y que si él quería algo solo tenía que pedirlo.

The ending was nice, it leaves everything open for a sequel. Certainly, when both want to change, if the love is truly mutual, they will do what they can to make them both change so they can keep each other out of their lives. It shows how much a person can tolerate and that no matter how long you ignore the problems, in the long run, there are so many little things that you end up getting tired and deciding to leave. Because those little things weigh more when they accumulate over time.

El final estuvo lindo, lo deja todo abierto como para una segunda parte. Ciertamente, cuando ambos desean cambiar, si de verdad es mutuo el amor, se hará lo posible para que ambos cambien y así poder evitar que el uno y el otro se vayan de sus vidas. Muestra cuanto se puede tolerar una persona y que no importa cuanto tiempo se ignoran los problemas, a la larga son tantas cosas pequeñas que termina por cansarnos y decidiendo dejarlo. Porque esas cosas pequeñas pesan y más cuando se van acumulando con el tiempo.
