Elemental Phoenix Fan Art - Splinterlands Art Contest Week 186

Hi Guys! First I want to congratulate all the winners of last week's Weekly Fanart Challenge! Although I've never won any place since I joined this Competition, I am still very happy because so many people appreciate my art.

I would also like to thank all the people who curated my past works. It means a lot to me. Joining a drawing contest in Hive develop my drawing skills so I've decided to purchase a Graphic Tablet from my past earnings to develop it more.

( I am planning to be a webtoon artist next year) and I owe it all to you who are supporting my work.

I would also like to thank the Splinterlands MOD for their continuous battle in stopping abusive users that participates in the challenge. It only shows that they want this competition to be clean and fair.

OK enough with the chit-chat. My entry for this week's challenge is the Legendary Fire Elemental Phoenix.

I rented it a lot during my early days of playing Splinterlands because of its high health, fast speed, and flying ability.

Lore

At night in the Burning Lands, the great Elemental Phoenix can be seen gliding high overhead from nearly anywhere outside. The massive bird of flame is a silent but watchful protector of the Ferexia. According to legend, the Phoenix has been killed on multiple occasions, but always comes back in times of Ferexia need.

My Entry

Since it is a Fire element, I tried my best to make it look like it was really on fire.

Steps

Sketching

I want to make the Phoenix seems like it's coming down to grab its opponent. The sketch pose has no reference, I just imagined that it will look that way going down.

Medibang

I tried to minimize the shades into red and yellow to make it look more flamy (if that is even a word).

Here are the layers that I've created in Medibang

Layer 1 - I uploaded my paper sketch in Medibang so that I can trace over it

Layer 2- Trace using Pencil brush #3

Layer 3 - Red color for base

Layer 4 - Dark Red for Highlight

Layer 5 - Red for feathers

Layer 6 - Dark Red for feather shadow

Layer 7 - Black for beak and talons

Layer 8 - White for nails

Layer 9,10,11 -Yellow white and orange for flame effect

Exported the files in png format

Photoshop

I grabbed the frame of Elemental Phoenix on Splinterlands Website, I trimmed the inner box because I would place my Medibang artwork inside.

I created a flaming background

I adjusted the brightness and contrast of the Phoenix

I saved the layers individually so I can overlay them with each other in Capcut.

I created 2 files in Capcut because my phone is running out of memory if i tried to insert all images at once

I overlayed all the images with each other and I added flame effects to each layer.
