Apocalyptic Homesteading (Day 1099)

Hello Everyone!

Espresso with ice-cream, High winds, Inbound storms, The wild coding hobby & Fixing Homesteading Helper!

I am off to a slow start here with the writing this evening... but I at least did not make the fatal mistake of yesterday... by not having my nightly espresso brewed beforehand. Oddly enough, I do not always even drink the stuff... and at the end of the writing (and posting) I will find myself surprised by the cup being either full or nearly so.

Tonight though... I think that I will take my time to sip some of it along the way... before it gets too cool to convey that 'warm and fuzzy' feeling that it does while it is still moderately hot. I doubt that I mentioned it previously... but many months ago I began including ice-cream in my supply runs again... and I am sure that some of my recent fixation on 'espresso' has to do with it having a clump of strawberry goodness occasionally floating in it!

Anyways, the weather was super nice today besides a heck of a lot of gusting wind... and I gotta say that they were the 'worrisome' kind of wind gusts... especially given that they kept rapidly switching directions... and even blowing hard from two directions at once. If it is a foreshadowing for the kind of 'tornado making weather' that is being forecast for in the next couple of days... I better get things in much better order outdoors than they are now.

From the look of things I will have a fair amount of the day tomorrow to get what needs done accomplished... but after that it is going to be incredibly 'hit or miss' with the weather's intensity over a several day period. As much as having all that 'guilt free' time indoors over the next few days goes... I just hope that the cloud cover (and the rain) does not make my internet connection so dodgy that it starts being frustrating to do anything online.

Having been diving into my new coding hobby so much lately I have found that I am just as obsessive about it as I was with the gaming habit that it replaced. In many ways it is so much more challenging and rewarding than gaming... but I am still working out how to garner some real 'entertainment' from it.

In other words it is not exactly a 'relaxing' hobby and often it can lead me to some pretty wild intellectual puzzles as far as technology goes that my brain does not let go of! Of course the same thing would happen with complex game mechanics, skill balances, itemization factors and so forth... but the coding stuff is just way more nuanced and somehow deeply stimulating in a way the gaming experience lacks.

All that jazz aside I think that it is an awesome way to spend my time as long as I do not mind dealing with all the documentation, files, build versions and all that other 'coding related' stuff. It sure can be a messy hobby as far as digital hobbies go... and although I keep saying I have around two hundred ongoing projects with forty odd public ones... the number is vastly larger.

Apparently I have been saying 'two hundred' for far too long now and 'all the while' the project base grew and grew... to now being closer to five hundred at this point if I were to break some of the larger ones down into smaller components. At this point I kind of need to just dump it all in once place, sort through it and make a more concise code (and project) base out of the results... because at this rate... things are just too all over the place.

On a different note. I finally figured out how to get that Homesteading Helper custom GPT model to reference the CDW3D database better. All that it took was adding a sentence in the 'instructions' field for it to consult the CD3WD website itself (if need be) to answer questions and aid in navigating the database effectively. It was a super simple solution and using it I could 'in theory' do away with having to store the CD3WD files in the model itself.

As you can imagine much of my time has been spent immersed in the digital world... and I gotta say that at this point... it feels like I am surfing some kind of crazy technological curve and simply do not want to be crushed by the wave. Do not get be wrong (or right for that matter) but it has been incredibly fun surfing that 'curve' and leveraging the amazing technology that is available today in the realm of artificial intelligence.

I have often felt that it was a monumental moment when the more polished GPT models stepped onto the stage last year... but whoa we are now light years from where that was at and it was frigging epic in and of itself. Assuredly the 'wild west' of it all is super attractive and mayhaps even romantic and yet... it is an amazing world of marvel to get to explore and to some degree partake in.

Well, I meandered a good bit here in this entry but there you have it. I hope that everyone is doing well and has a nice time.

It's funny I was to pinpoint that you have shifted your attention from gaming to coding. I must commend you that it's a great achievement you have there Buddy. I believe everything is just mindset and it would come to pass.

I'm not neither of the two you mentioned but if I'm to choose I will go for coding because I sensed that is the world we are living in presently. I wish can have knowledge about one. Nice write up but I'm curious to know if you later finished your ice cream or you left it half way? Take care!🤜🤛🏿
