Apocalyptic Homesteading (Day 1109)

Hello Everyone!

The sugary sweets, A barrier of hassle, Taking a day off & Leaving the water system offline!

Okay, it is that time of the day again where I need to stop staring at the blinking cursor... and start typing if I am going to stay on track with my routines. I still have the water boiling to make the nightly espresso so either way I am off to a bit of a slow start here... but I am here nonetheless.

Last night I skipped putting any ice cream in the espresso and noticed that I hardly drank any of it at all... so that 'sugar habit' that I mentioned a few days ago surely has a grip on me to one degree or another. I am so 'wishy washy' on it though, that I was considering putting some in it tonight... as a reward for not doing it last night or throughout the day today. Well... I caved in after writing about it and put a small scoop of strawberry and vanilla in it!

Anyways, last night it got down to well below freezing (as forecast) but thankfully there was not much in the way of wind or even a breeze... which made a big difference in how it 'felt' outside. As far as 'cold snaps' go it has at least been a gentle one... because during the day today there was not much in the way of wind either.

At one point early in the day I attempted to get myself outdoors to start doing stuff... but I just did not have it in me... and decided to take a day off from everything. The warmth of the cabin was all too alluring once again... and the idea of having to bring the water system back online... then drain it again was not something that I wanted to fiddle with.

Generally (if I can pull it off) I like to leave the water system offline for the few days in a row that it tends to freeze here. Considering that I am an avid hoarder and 'rationer' of water it seldom bothers me... but the idea of getting dirty and gross... without a way to easily wash myself (or more often than not my boots) off... now that tends to irk me.

That is all 'how I sell it to myself' at least and like the saying goes... any excuse will do! Seriously though, I did want to take a break today and just that small 'barrier of hassle' was enough to make me decide to follow through on the idea. I also took a break from coding... because last night I was once again up until the wee hours of the morning tinkering with a few projects.

As a side note they have still not addressed that bug with the LLM that I have been using as a coding aid... and my monthly subscription lapsed... so I have no way of testing to see if it is fixed yet until I can shuffle around some crypto and sort it out. Thankfully, some of my EXODE cards have been selling lately so that has been super helpful... and in short.. it is probably how I will pay for this months subscription payment.

I have also been hoping to bolster my income by writing those other Hive posts that I have been making recently. I even spent a good bit of time this afternoon working on that next Something Different entry... but honestly I was not quite 'moody' enough for it... and ran out of steam partway through the process.

Alright, I think that I am going to keep this entry 'short and sweet' and get on with the editing and posting portion of my evening. I hope that everyone is doing well and has a nice time.

It got cold here, too. But not as cold as I think you are. I did not go outside either.
