Apocalyptic Homesteading (Day 1122)

Hello Everyone!

Always one more task, Still no fever, More cold weather & My old dog continues to improve!

Alright, I am lagging behind a bit tonight with my writing routine timing... but alas here I am... and honestly I am not 'super late' because it is only a few hours after sunset. The kind of anxiety I induce upon myself every moment after the sun sets over the horizon... to begin spelling things out... really wears on me as the hours pass to say the least.

Which is why it is often easier to just open the text editor and begin typing. Earlier this evening I was actually on time with things... but I allowed myself to keep doing 'one more task' with a coding project... only to do it again and again... and would probably still be doing it... if I had not broken myself away from it all through a sheer act of will.

Another good side to that new hobby is that I 'can' break away from it... whereas with the old gaming hobby (that it has replaced) breaking away was very difficult to do... and especially so while playing online. I guess the biggest part of the gaming that I do actually miss is the social aspect... but even that is not strong enough to pull me back to it.

Anyways, the weather is going to get rather frigid again tonight... but is not going to get down to freezing... even though it will be only a few degrees above freezing. So, much like last time this occurred I left the water system offline... just so that I do not have to worry about the wind chill causing stuff to freeze up.

From the looks of things there is going to be one good day of decent weather ahead and then it is going to freeze again. It is kind of weird but even after all that recent rain everything seems 'dry' and (in my estimation) has a high potential for wildfire from lighting. Hopefully, the worst of those thunderstorms keep missing us... because yeah it is looking pretty dodgy out there in that regard... even if the ground is still kind of damp!

On a different note. I pretty much 'took it easy' again today and am still feeling like I am on the mend from that infection. My chin is still sore but way less than it was for a days there. Even trying to scratch my beard in that area seemed to set off a dull ache... so it is nice to at least be able to do that. I also have not had a fever again and have even been able to skip taking any ibuprofen today.

In other news my elder dog has continued to get around more and more on her own ever since a few weeks ago when I first remarked upon her progress. At this point I no longer have to carry her at all... and she frequently (and albeit sometimes too frequently) not only gets up on her own... but also wants to go outside without encouragement to do so.

I know not to get 'too accustomed' to it all and that she will have good days and bad days... but overall it is a lot less heart-wrenching than it was before. For now I am glad that she has been doing better. She is definitely the kind of dog that might surprise me in the end... and stick around for a few more years out of sheer loyalty and willfulness.

Okay, I am still feeling out of sorts a good bit... and am going to wrap this up given that it has been so challenging to write anything at all. I do not know how else to describe it... but my mind has been feeling incredibly 'fuzzy' the last few days... and hopefully both it and that infection pass at the same time.

I hope that everyone is doing well and has a nice time.

I am so happy to hear your infection is getting better, also equally as happy for your old dog, may she continue to stay well.
