Apocalyptic Homesteading (Day 1219)

Hello Everyone!

So many guessing games, Fixing some fabric bags, More packing & The weather turns chilly again!

Alright, I am running about eleven minutes behind on my writing routine this evening... which is close enough to being on time for me. The last few days I have not had much patience with spelling things out... or to put it more accurately... I have not felt inclined to push through the fatigue to do so.

I am just all around not 'with it' when it comes to a lot of things lately... because my focus has been on doing the packing down... and of course wrapping my head around the logistics of getting to (and setting things up at) the next place. I would not go so far as to say that I am 'flailing' when it comes to the writing and such... but yeah it has not been coming as easily to me as it usually does.

After making last night's entry (and eating more food) I almost immediately zonked out... and slept the entire night away before awaking quite early in the morning. Although, I probably could have done more in the way of my Hive engagement routine... I spent the bulk of the morning writing up some questions to send to that old friend when they go scout the property for me.

Hopefully, they can actually make it out to the place over the coming weeks... and I will have a much better idea of what I am getting into with the place afterwards. At least at that point I will be able to quit playing the 'guessing game' and running one 'what if' scenario after another in my mind every day... which yeah has been happening a lot to say the least.

Anyways, even though it was chilly outside this morning I got outdoors... and dove into packing more stuff down into those fabric bags that I recently washed. A few of the bags had some pretty big holes in them (where the rats had chewed on them) and I wound up just bunching the fabric together... and using a zip-tie to cinch the hole shut and 'repair' the bag.

The main stuff that I focused on with the packing was getting all my ratchet straps, ropes, bungees and assorted hardware all put into their own bags... and getting the bags consolidated together because I will undoubtedly use much of it during the move itself. Although I just stuffed the ratchet straps into a bag all willy-nilly... I will probably go back later and wind them all up properly... so they are not a hassle to deal with when I need them.

Once all those tasks were done, I gathered up all the painting supplies that I could find along with a can of exterior paint... and got it all set out on the lumber that I have stacked on the sawhorses. In hindsight I should have immediately started painting (this morning) because no sooner than I was ready to paint... than the wind picked up like crazy and started gusting really hard.

Since I was not going to do any painting in those conditions I switched gears and got more stuff in the shop tent consolidated into a tote... before heading over to the solar shack to see what I could get done in there. Honestly, I did not make a tremendous amount of headway in the solar shack... but I did manage to get much of the plastic shelving in there cleared off... which is good because I need to pull that shelving out of there at some point.

By late in the afternoon I was feeling super wiped out (and it had grown even chillier and windier) so I made a few grilled cheese sandwiches, ravenously ate them... and took a nice long nap. I really do not know how long I slept for... but right before sunset I scrambled around and got the water system drained before it freezes tonight.

Well, I think that is all the words that I have in me for this entry... and am going to try to get to sleep early again tonight. I hope that everyone is doing well and not pushing themselves too hard. Ta ta for now.

85 degrees here yesterday, and 52 this morning, we do not really have a spring here, as you know, so I am ready for summer, I hope this is the last cold front but would not bet on it.

I must not have slept good last night, I woke at 7:30 this morning, drank a cup of coffee, and went back to sleep until 1:30 this afternoon, I do not think I have ever done that before.

I was thinking, is there any way that you can put your little house on a trailer and take it with you?

I pretty much did the same thing today. It was chilly out so I just kept napping.

The little cabin is too big for a trailer and built off the side of a hill and behind a bunch of trees which would make it really hard to get out from where it is even if it were smaller.
