Apocalyptic Homesteading (Day 1251)

Hello Everyone!

Up late again, So many financial hurdles, Soaking the dog bedding & Prepping copper for the scrap yard!

Alright, I am beginning my writing routine early again much like I did last night. My reason for doing so tonight though is because I want to call an old friend after sunset... and do not want to struggle against my fatigue much later in the evening to get this entry done.

Last night I was up rather late again... and this time it was solely because I started binge watching a series that I had not seen or heard of before. I have no idea why I have been finding 'romantic comedies' so appealing of late... but they sure do make for some relaxing watching... that does not tax my brain overly much in the process.

Somehow this morning I still managed to wake up at a decent hour... and I gotta admit I was super stoked to see that someone had sent me a private donation to help me with my current endeavors. I know that it is rather dull for folks to continually hear about my financial struggles... but if there was ever a time that I needed a massive amount of assistance it is now considering just how large the financial hurdles ahead of me are.

The thing with all of that stuff that makes it so pressing is that I have a limited amount of time to pull off what I am trying to do (in regards to both a storage shed and electricity service) because in six weeks I will be making the big move to the new place. Of course I also have other things that I still need to acquire as well like dog crates, fencing and my usual living expenses... so yeah I am 'feeling the stress' to say the least.

Anyways, per usual I dived right into my Hive engagement routine this morning... but cut it short due to needing to take care of some correspondences with one of the folks that are going to help me move. In short we landed on planning for getting a flat bed trailer that we can haul with the moving truck... because the flatbed ones actually have side walls which will be perfect to shelter the chickens from the wind as we cruise down the highway.

Not long after that call ended I headed outdoors and began filling the barrel with some hot water again... so that I could soak some of the dog bedding in it to help get rid of the fleas and mites. All total I have four such blankets and two rugs that I am planning on doing that with... because after lots of internal debate I just do not want to throw them away like I was planning on doing.

Once I got the bedding soaking I began working on getting all the copper wire that I could find sorted through... and prepped for the scrap yard. Basically, I have a bunch of rodent damaged romex, a bunch of miscellaneous cords and small transformers that (although mostly salvageable) I decided to try to cash in on to help with my expenses.

That whole process was a rather tedious one because I cut all the ends off the cords in an effort to increase the value of it all. I am unsure exactly how all that works (at the scrap yard) but I do know that they have different prices for romex, transformers and copper wire... and I think that without the ends (connectors/plugs) being on them it brings the value up.

I also did a bunch of other random stuff today including getting all my routine chores done... but for the most part prepping the scrap metal consumed most of my time. It was really good to get the scrap metal stuff done though... because I was starting to feel like I was putting off dealing with it for far too long.

Well, I gotta cut this entry short so that I can call my buddy before it gets too late. I hope that everyone is doing well and all that feel good jazz. Ta ta for now.

Can you dig up a few small cheery trees to take with you? I wish they would grow down here, even though these are green they made my mouth water for them.
