There are coyotes and occasionally hunting dogs that show up so I do not like letting the chickens outside of the dog yard.

I know what grammarly is but nope I have never used it. It would save me time but I do not mind the manual editing all that much.

I understand the chickens not being let out, that is why we no longer have any. Even though we locked them up at night, the Bobcats would come into our yard in the daytime and get them. Now we have coyotes, too.

Yeah, I saw one coyote not all the far away from the dog yard. I have yet to see any big cats here but I always figure they are around also.

I have not heard the hunting dogs for a while so hopefully the folks running them figured out someone lives here now. They were raccoon hunting with them before and several times I got woken up by them being right outside the fence.

One of my roosters is so mean I almost feel sorry for anything that tries to get him.

LOL about the rooster, I did not want more chickens so no roosters but I had one hen that I named BEB for Beedy-eyed-Bitch, I swear she hated me but loved Donny. As long as I was looking at her she was good, but as soon as I turned my back she would attack my ankles. The coons will also kill chickens, if they can reach one through the wire, they will rip their head off.

That mean rooster is name Bob Backwards (his brother is named Bob) and he used to only attack me when my back was turned then he started to do it even if I was looking at him.

Thankfully there do not seem to be many raccoons around here and I have yet to see any sign of them. I worry more about owls than anything else.

yes, owls and hawks are bad mostly on little ones, we never had them bother the big chickens.

I left a tree directly over the coop (and a few around the dog yard) to help screen the chickens from owls and hawks. It is not a perfect system but so far so good.
