FungiFriday - A kind of Bondarzewia berkeleyi Mushroom

Good evening everyone, I'm a little late in posting. How are you all so far, I hope you are doing well and always having fun. This is my contribution to #fungfriday by @ewkaw

This time I will share a type of mushroom that is very elegan. Here are pictures and reviews.

Bondarzewia berkeleyi or known as polipore berkeley or in Indonesia referred to as flower stump is a type of polyporous fungus in the family Russculaceae.

This fungus is a species of parasitic fungus that can cause butt rot on hardwood trees.

Stump mushrooms grow with fan-shaped petals or shelves, growing overlapping from the base of the tree. This type of mushroom can grow up to a diameter of 20cm

It has a variety of colors ranging from white to pale gray, cream and yellow. with a porous skin surface and white like a net and perforated. hard and white flesh can reach a thickness of 2-3 cm with a light weight

At first glance, it is almost similar to ear mushrooms, but the tunngul mushrooms are arranged like rose petals and some are large but very rare.

Some people make this mushroom as a garden decoration at home because of its beautiful and attractive shape

And there are some that grow on the ground in the field but moist and usually in a place with a lot of dry, rotting leaves

Stump mushrooms are a type of mushroom that cannot be consumed because they are poisonous

when small this mushroom is almost like whipe cream and when it grows large the petals will secrete a liquid similar to mucus or more like sap with a pungent bitter smell.

but when made into home decoration. These mushrooms will be dried and placed in a vase

That's all from me, hopefully it's useful and for sure you're all entertained

This one is actually edible, it tastes similar to chicken of the woods. The only thing that is slightly toxic in there is the sulphur but you would have to eat lots of it to get a stomach ache from it. If cooked fully it is fine to eat though you will need to spice it up as it is sort of bland.

some people think this mushroom can be eaten. but some also argue that this mushroom is not recommended to be eaten. I don't know what the medical explanation is like but here people prefer not to eat it. thanks for telling me maybe i'll try later😬
