Am I free from cybercrime? [WEEK 151]

Hello, dear friends.

Today I am very happy, especially to see (in this week that has just ended) next to my username the word "MEMBER" of this beautiful community founded by @galenkp. Here one discovers different perspectives and stories related to the weekend that entertain and teach in a relaxed way.

I must clarify, that one when retiring believes that one will live in an eternal weekend. But it is what you do and how you do it that makes it possible. That is, enjoying life.

The topics proposed by our host tend to fire the neurons, and sometimes it is difficult to choose one in particular. We all have something to tell, but the spice is in how we do it.

Sometimes I think I'm a bit boring, because of the formal and difficult environment where I worked for many years. You know, safety is not a game, especially when you are responsible for others. Well, this is a great fallacy, since there is no better guarantor than oneself. Too bad there are others willing to disturb you and ruin your fun.

Now that we live immersed in the digital, someone could be fooled into believing he can escape crime. One can go around, walking around in their avatar, and be attacked. Usually with a significant economic impact by impersonating or hijacking your identity.

So no wonder cybercrime is on the rise.

Very clever people trying to dupe the naive, at best. It's unusual to see that some are wildly successful at exploiting the greed of the victims: people who want big profits effortlessly and fast too.

In the crypto-verse, nothing is more important than protecting your cryptographic keys and debugging the code that makes life in these digital worlds possible.

The cybercriminal will have no qualms about exploiting system vulnerabilities to strip you of your cryptographic assets or empty your real-world bank accounts through the increasingly reliant digitization of the economy. So being up-to-date and always alert will prevent you from being an easy prey to be caught.

In a utopian world, one would have nothing to worry about, but unfortunately, the world is not like that. On the contrary, it is like being thirsty in a crocodile-infested lagoon. The slightest slip-up and you won't be around to tell the tale.

Don't even think you're smart enough to avoid cybercrime, or that it will never happen to you. I assure you that many of the victims thought so.

Of course, it's not about living in permanent paranoia, stress, and fear. No! It's about consciously taking control of what you can, and staying away from the easy and tempting. Surely, a trap for the naïve by extreme confidence. Even the lion takes water with caution when the pond is murky.

I tell you that in my beginnings with Bitcoin, I was swindled with a lot of pain.

Some say that no one learns from the experience of others, but it is much better to learn painlessly by heeding good advice.
