It's been a while since I joined #POBContest. I can't even remember when was the last time. So I made sure to add @friendlymoose to my favorites to be notified of his latest posts.

The theme for this week's POB Contest is Pink. I am a pink lover myself and I don't want to miss this.

When I visited the Hong Kong Flower Show one weekend, there were a lot of beautiful flowers and the dominant colors were purple, yellow, red, and of course, pink.

One of the pink flowers was Pink Cosmos. There were different species of Cosmos flowers in different colors in the show. Based on Wikipedia, there are 36 species of Cosmos Flowers and that's pretty amazing. I took a few shots of some of them.

A few facts about Cosmos Flowers:

Cosmos are herbaceous perennial plants or annual plants growing 0.3–2 m (1 ft 0 in – 6 ft 7 in) tall. The leaves are simple, pinnate, or bipinnate, and arranged in opposite pairs. The flowers are produced in a capitulum with a ring of broad ray florets and a center of disc florets; flower color varies noticeably between the different species. The genus includes several ornamental plants popular in gardens. Numerous hybrids and cultivars have been selected and named.Source

I find these flowers cute and I am seeing them anywhere. They are similar to daisy flowers, which I initially thought they were.

According to Almanac, Cosmos flowers easily grow and can reach up to 6ft tall. They usually bloom in summer through fall. The best thing about these flowers is, they can grow even in dry soil. No wonder why I am seeing them anywhere. They grow in warm places and are drought-tolerant. They can even survive in poor condition soils.

If you want to join the POB Photo Contest, here are the rules:

Rules

  • Create a blog post with a photo that meets this weeks subject.
Archive are allowed, but I recommend posting a recent photo.
  • Add some information about your photo. What do we see? Where did you take it? Why did you take it? What techniques and/or equipment did you use?
  • Add the #pobphotocontest tag to that post (this is how I can find the post of the contestants).
You can add more photos to that post, but only the first one in your post will be your submission for the contest.
  • Optional: Place a link to the post you created in the comment on this announcement post. You can add your image to the comment too.

@friendlymoose will personally judge the entries. So good luck to all participants!

Thanks for stopping by.

Great shot and honestly, pink is a beautiful color. I have seen people say it is a female color but I love it as a guy.
