LOH298 || Innocence and naivety...

I think adults have to learn a lot from children. Because children are the great teachers of life. This is especially true in difficult times, such as the tragedy of the double earthquake in my country Venezuela.

I confess that when we started working on collecting humanitarian aid in the camps during the emergency the first few hours, I was surprised when just hours after the events there were children playing and laughing.

Although there is a lot of suffering and consequences in our families, children have that wonderful ability to allow themselves to laugh in the midst of adversity when they feel the urge to laugh.

And it's not about forcing laughter when you don't want to laugh, pretending that nothing happened. Because we know that it happened and a lot. It is about recognizing that while there may be sadness, laughter and joy can also appear without it being a sin. Children laugh and cry, they express themselves and this is why the process of accompanying them is often more fluid.

June was a month of profound contrasts. It started full of light, celebrating my life, embracing new friendships and feeling a breeze of joy, hope and faith that I haven't breathed in our Venezuela for a long time.

However, the end of the month shook us with a double earthquake... and personally with an emotional earthquake, dealing with anger and pain, but also recognizing my ability to feel everything.

We have a responsibility not to forget it and to maintain favorable conditions so that children's lives have more reasons to laugh than to cry.
