MUSIC: Three Tune Tuesday 143 (ENG/ESP) - 3 Songs on the Theme of “Clouds” (Hive Open Mic Week 202)

Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing to you from Cape Town in South Africa!

Welcome to "Three Tune Tuesday", an initiative started by @ablaze. It is week 143 overall! My current pattern for how I will be contributing to TTT is to take the Hive Open Mic challenge Theme of the Week and give suggestions on how I would tackle it!

For those of you who are not familiar, the Hive Open Mic is a weekly challenge on the Hive Open Mic community for anybody who loves to sing. You don’t even need to play an instrument, a backing track or a cappella is also fine as far as I can tell!

Different artists are given the chance to choose a “Theme of the Week” that the posts should be based on. Often it can be difficult for people to think about easy songs that might fit that theme… so let me see if I can be of any assistance to the people who still might not know what to try by the time Tuesday comes around!

It was the turn of @henzeru to pick a theme, and this week the theme is “Contando una Historia”, which translates to “Telling a Story”.

Ooh, that’s a great theme – I love songs that tell a story!

SONG NUMBER 1

“Arthur McBride” – Paul Brady

If you are a guitar master and familiar with the Open-G tuning, would you be brave enough to have a crack at this masterpiece that tells the story of two brave Irish Men rebuking a request to join the British Army?

I learnt about this song on HIVE actually, when it was showed to me by @celticheartbeat! Here is a video where the story behind the song is acted out beautifully!

SONG NUMBER 2

“Tweeter and the Monkey Man” – The Traveling Wilburys

The Traveling Wilburys was a “supergroup” made up of amazing artists like Bob Dylan, George Harrison (of the Beatles), Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne and Roy Orbison. I grew up on their wonderful album.

In fact, my wife and I love their music so much, we made one of their songs our first dance at our wedding, and when the doctor performing the C-section at the birth of our baby daughter Madison asked if we wanted music to be played during the procedure – we asked for this album, and I think little Maddy arrived on this particular song!

It is a crazy story about a duo of criminals on the run from an undercover cop, with some intrigue that the undercover cop’s sister is in love with one of the criminals!

SONG NUMBER 3

“Walt Grace’s Submarine Test, January 1967” – John Mayer

I think this is one of my favourite and most under-rated John Mayer songs, and definitely the one I like to try and cover myself. It tells the story about a man who makes a home-made submarine, much to the derision of his friends and family, but he pull it off! I think it talks to man’s longing for adventure, freedom and “nothing” that women usually don’t understand!

There are two wonderful videos on Youtube that use animation to tell the story, one to the John Mayer original and one to a cover. Let me share both with you!

So that's week 143 done and dusted! I hope that gave some people some ideas on how to tackle the Hive Open Mic Challenge this week? Perhaps I’ve even inspired one or two new people to give it a try? Please let me know!

Bienvenidos a "Three Tune Tuesday", una iniciativa iniciada por @ablaze. ¡Es la semana 143 en total! Mi patrón actual sobre cómo contribuiré a TTT es tomar el tema de la semana del desafío Hive Open Mic y dar sugerencias sobre cómo lo abordaría.

Para aquellos de ustedes que no están familiarizados, Hive Open Mic es un desafío semanal en la comunidad de Hive Open Mic para cualquiera que ame cantar. ¡Ni siquiera necesitas tocar un instrumento, por lo que yo sé, una pista de acompañamiento o a capela también está bien!

Diferentes artistas tienen la oportunidad de elegir un “Tema de la semana” en el que se basarán las publicaciones. A menudo puede resultar difícil para las personas pensar en canciones sencillas que puedan encajar en ese tema... ¡así que déjenme ver si puedo ser de alguna ayuda para las personas que quizás todavía no sepan qué probar cuando llegue el martes!

De hecho, mi esposa y yo amamos tanto su música que hicimos de una de sus canciones nuestro primer baile en nuestra boda, y cuando el médico que realizó la cesárea en el nacimiento de nuestra hija Madison nos preguntó si queríamos que la música fuera sonó durante el procedimiento: pedimos este álbum y creo que la pequeña Maddy llegó a interpretar esta canción en particular.

Es una historia loca sobre un dúo de criminales que huyen de un policía encubierto, ¡con cierta intriga de que la hermana del policía encubierto está enamorada de uno de los criminales!

CANCIÓN NÚMERO 3

“Prueba del submarino de Walt Grace, enero de 1967” – John Mayer

Creo que esta es una de mis canciones favoritas y más subestimadas de John Mayer, y definitivamente es la que me gusta intentar versionar. Cuenta la historia de un hombre que fabrica un submarino casero, para gran burla de sus amigos y familiares, ¡pero lo logra! ¡Creo que habla del anhelo del hombre por la aventura, la libertad y “nada” que las mujeres normalmente no entienden!

Hay dos vídeos maravillosos en Youtube que utilizan animación para contar la historia, uno del original de John Mayer y otro de una portada. ¡Déjame compartir ambos contigo!

¡Así que ya está la semana 143 terminada y desempolvada! Espero que esto haya dado a algunas personas algunas ideas sobre cómo abordar el desafío Hive Open Mic esta semana. ¿Quizás incluso he inspirado a una o dos personas nuevas a intentarlo? ¡Por favor hágamelo saber!
