MUSIC: Three Tune Tuesday 106 - 3 Songs by Sting & The Police! - (3 Cover Performances!)

Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town in South Africa!

This is my 41st week (In a row!) contributing to "Three Tune Tuesday", an initiative started by @ablaze. It is week 106 overall!

In all of my TTT entries I like to play the songs on guitar as well as share the original videos... and I have a newish pattern for "Three Tune Tuesday" where I pick three songs by one of my favourite artists, that has inspired me - as I also write original songs.

This week I would like to pick the rather challenging Sting & The Police. Their most famous song is "Every Breathe You Take (I'll Be Watching You)", but that song is very dependent on its beautiful bassline to sound good, so I'm going to try three other ones! It has also always sounded quite creepy (stalkerish) to me!

The first is "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" - the chord structure of the bridge is all over the place but I think I'm getting it now! Hahaha! Here is the original version:

For the second song, I just love the chord structure and changes of "Message in a Bottle" - I chord just play the verse all day! Hahaha! Here is the original version:

I also love a version that John Mayer did quite early in his career at a concert in his hometown of Birmingham, Alabama -

Finally, please excuse me as I tinker with the tuning of my guitar (rather inefficiently) as I have found that I like to play my final Police song of the day in DADGAD tuning. It is called "King of Pain"! Here is the original:

I also think that an Alanis Morrisette cover of this song, during her unplugged MTV performance, is fantastic:

So that's week 106 done and dusted! I hope you enjoyed the Sting & The Police songs! Which song was your favourite? Did I miss an important one to you? (Yes, yes - "Every Breath You Take" is an obvious one!)

And so, which artist will I do three covers of next week, for TTT number 107? I hope you tune in to find out and thank you so much for clicking/watching/reading this time!!

Jasper!!

Some great tunes this week. I bet 100% awesome all the way. You can't go wrong with The Police.

See what I did there? 😏

Just finished a nightmare t-shirt job so am bookmarking for morning coffee.

Very interesting to listen to these songs with only an acoustic guitar, particularly King of Pain. Really great interpretation! I like to listen to your versions first before the video and was surprised to hear that one come out - I thought you'd stay with their earlier stuff. Nicely done!

Marvelous.

Message in a Bottle moved up back onto my playlist. Great song!

It's amazing how things resonate and sound so different with more experience, huh?

I totally missed that as a young person. 👀

Tell the King of Pain my door is open and I have a spare pair of fuzzy, comfy socks ♥️
