Hello everybody on Hive and especially the PukuMundo Community! My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town in South Africa! I hope everybody is having a good start to the New Year?
I have been on Hive since about April last year, but it took me a while to figure it all out. I started contributing to HIVE Open Mic and Three Tune Tuesday (playing the songs live) about 20 weeks ago, and share my original songs on the Hive Music Festival platform. However, I’ve come to learn that if I want to sing a proper rock song, then I should come and do it here!
This is Week 50 of the “Singing Voice” or “La Voz Cantante” challenge, but it is my first time contributing. I thought I would start by singing “Creep” by Radiohead (not “Radiohead” by Creep as I accidentally say in the video with my mind spinning Haha!), a band I love… and you may catch me covering again… I promise not to only do Radiohead! Hahaha!

¡Hola a todos en Hive y especialmente a la Comunidad PukuMundo! ¡Mi nombre es Jasper y les escribo (y canto) desde Ciudad del Cabo en Sudáfrica! Espero que todos estén teniendo un buen comienzo para el Año Nuevo.
He estado en Hive desde abril del año pasado, pero me tomó un tiempo entenderlo todo. Empecé a contribuir con HIVE Open Mic y Three Tune Tuesday (tocando las canciones en vivo) hace unas 20 semanas, y comparto mis canciones originales en la plataforma Hive Music Festival. Sin embargo, he aprendido que si quiero cantar una canción de rock adecuada, ¡debo venir y hacerlo aquí!
Esta es la Semana 50 del reto “Voz Cantante” o “La Voz Cantante”, pero es la primera vez que contribuyo. Pensé en comenzar cantando “Creep” de Radiohead (no “Radiohead” de Creep como digo accidentalmente en el video con mi mente dando vueltas ¡Jaja!), una banda que amo… y es posible que me veas haciendo covers de nuevo… Prometo que no hacer solo Radiohead! ¡Jajaja!

Hi!. Well the entire Community PukuMundo it's about rock, metal, punk, goth... Culture (and music). We arent a music Community in a traditional way. We Made this Community and contest for people that like rock.
Well i'm músician and I don't know exists a lot of músic. Tons of songs lol
I don't make covers cause i'm always make new músic all the time. In jammings sessions one single take voice and music SO, for me it's more complex to request a cover but. I think make old songs covers in contemporany languaje always it's very cool. Like Elvis Presley or something like that but with the feeling of the XXI Century I Guess

I can't believe that Tom York hates his song now, I guess he must be tired of being asked to play it 😁.
I still think it's a cracker of a song if you ask me! It holds up!
I do think if you write many brilliant songs but the idiot audience is always begging for one and are never happy without it, you might get resentful of it? I believe Kurt Cobain felt a similar way about "Smells Like Teen Spirit" - he almost wrote it as a joke about knowing exactly what the audience wants but then was stuck having to play it...
But Radiohead did write many other amazing songs... I actually think "The Bends" (which didn't have this song on it) is one of those albums that is perfect throughout... and there's the song "Kharma Police" and many others...
I have heard through the grapevine that you are a South African living in Europe? Is this true?
Kharma Police is such a lekker track, Fake Plastic Tree also comes to mind as one of my fav, but there are so many!
Oh I forgot to answer the comment @ablaze made, sorry about that! Actually that's the other way around, I am French and lived in SA for 10 years, my wife is South African, and our 3 kids also. How is it going for you right now? How is summer treating ya?

Summer in Cape Town has been quite painfully hot at night lately, and the mosquitos are keeping us awake!
Loadshedding! Yes, that makes the nights even worse because you can't even have a fan to keep cool and blow the mosquitos away!! (You get a diffuser for mosquitos but it also needs electricity - sigh...) During the day, the inverters at the office are already needing to be replaced from over-use during loadshedding! It's crazy!
Where in France are you based? I sometimes get to visit a place called Les Contamines Montjoie near Chamonix, where I have learnt how to ski and snowboard...
OUch the mosquitos!!One thing for sure, no mosquitos in sight right now in winter, as we got freezing temps!
This and I imagine all the shower storms at the end of a hot day, adding up even more humidity!
I do miss home though, my wife just went and I can tell it was much needed. We'll see, maybe in a near future!
I've checked how far is Chamonix, and it's an 8 hours drive from where I am. 😁
I went there once too, this is also where I learnt how to snowboard, a looooooong time ago hahaha...

It's an amazing song! There are some other great Radiohead songs that I would like to try, but maybe something else first!
