The Sandman | Dreams don't fucking die

This is one of those series that I don't think it's possible to review at the level it deserves. It's one of those fantastic series that explode your brain, make you enter a state of divine enlightenment and the world becomes a sad yet wonderful reality of what it is and what it can become. If I wasn't watching Supernatural, I would have watched The Sandman at least 3 times by now, because no matter how many times you watch it, there are always details to discover, and there is always the opportunity to keep surprising and marveling at what we see.

The Sandman will give us stories that go hand in hand with Morpheus, The King of Dreams, Dream of the Endless, our central character, and the reason we learn about all these stories. It all starts when Dream is imprisoned in the human world for 100 years, causing much damage to the waking world, the world where we live, and also to the world of dreams. Morpheus then has to recover the objects stolen from him to regain his power and try to bring order back to the world of dreams. Throughout this process we will be told independent stories that are connected thanks to Morpheus, each story equal to or more shocking than the previous one, making it impossible for us to take our eyes off the screen and the world we are witnessing.

Esta es una de esas series a las que no creo posible poder hacerles una reseña a la altura de lo que se merece. Es una de esas series fantásticas que te explotan el cerebro, te hacen entrar en un estado de iluminación divina y el mundo se convierte en una realidad triste y a la vez maravillosa de lo que es y lo que puede llegar a ser. Si no estuviera viendo Supernatural, ya habría viso The Sandman al menos 3 veces, porque no importa cuántas veces se vea, siempre hay detalles por descubrir, siempre existe la oportunidad de seguir sorprendiéndonos y maravillándonos ante lo que vemos.

The Sandman nos dará historias que van de la mano de Morpheus, The King of Dreams, Dream of the Endless, nuestro personaje central, la razón de que nos enteremos de todas estas historias. Todo comienza cuando Dream es encarcelado en el mundo humano por 100 años, causando mucho daño al mundo de la vigilia, el mundo donde nosotres vivimos, y también al mundo de los sueños. Morpheus entonces tiene que recuperar los objetos que le fueron robamos para así recobrar su poder y tratar de volver a poner orden en el mundo de los sueños. En todo este proceso nos contarán historias independientes que están conectadas gracias a Morpheus, cada historia igual o más impactante que la anterior, haciendo imposible que quitemos la vista de la pantalla y del mundo que estamos presenciando.

I didn't know what to expect from the series, and even now I'm still amazed at how excellent it is, it has no equal. Neil Gaiman is a wonderful thing that knew how to bring to the screen the comic he created many years ago, I have not read the comics, but I have read a large number of publications where they are compared, and seeing these comparisons I can only say that it is one of the best adaptations that can be made, it has its changes, but these changes are completely acceptable and do not change at all the quality of the work, on the contrary, only enrich more something that was already incredible without any help.

I love it when people complain about things I like, and what happens specifically with this series only makes me love it more and more and more, just as it happened with He's Expecting, the series where men can get pregnant. This series is labeled as too 'woke', when the reality is that it can be much more woke than it already is, by woke I mean that it represents minorities in the world, from people of color to people with different sexual orientations and genders outside of the binary. The number of people complaining that Netflix made a series pandering to the new generations is gigantic, and that just makes me laugh because the original work, the comic, is just as woke as the series, that is, that's where it came from, it can't have been changed and that the series has the original creator of the comic is just the icing on the cake to be able to tell people who complain that they are first class idiots and morons, another of the best things is that the creator himself tells them, you can't ask for anything more to be happy.

Yo no sabía qué esperar de la serie, y aún a estas alturas me sigue sorprendiendo lo excelente que es, no tiene igual. Neil Gaiman es una cosa maravillosa que supo llevar a la pantalla el comic que creó hace muchos años, no he leído los comic, pero sí he leído una cantidad grande de publicaciones donde se les compara y al ver dichas comparaciones solo puedo decir que es una de las mejores adaptaciones que se pueden llegar a hacer, que tiene sus cambios, pero dichos cambios son completamente aceptables y que no cambian en absoluto la calidad de la obra, pues al contrario, solo enriquecen más algo que ya era increíble sin ayuda alguna.

Amo que la gente se queje de las cosas que me gustan, y que sucede en específico con esta serie solo hace que la ame más y más y más, así como pasó con la serie He's Expecting, la serie donde los hombres se pueden embarazar. Esta serie está catalogada como demasiado 'woke', cuando la realidad es que puede ser mucho más woke de lo que ya es, con woke me refiero a que representa minorías en el mundo, desde personas de color, hasta personas con orientaciones sexuales diferentes y géneros fuera de lo binario. La cantidad de gente quejándose de que Netlix hizo una serie complaciente con las nuevas generaciones son gigantes, y eso solo me da risa porque la obra original, el comic, es igual de woke que la serie, o sea, de ahí salió, no puede haberse cambiado, y que la serie tenga al creador original del comic solo es la cereza del pastel para poder decirle a la gente que se quejan que son unos idiotas e imbéciles de primera categoría, otra de las mejores cosas es que el mismo creador se los dice, no se puede pedir nada más para ser feliz.

What I don't love? That a second season hasn't been confirmed yet, I still hate that, The Sandman has all the potential possibilities to become another one of Netflix's flagship series, and they know it, otherwise they wouldn't have released an extra chapter where they tackle two more stories, two different stories that just continue to show the infinite potential of the series. I hope there will be more seasons if they don't. Netflix will be making one of the worst decisions of their life, on the contrary, they made one of the best decisions by canceling Resident Evil, of which there is no doubt.

The series can be divided into two parts, well, three. Chapter 1 to chapter 6 would be the first part, where each of the chapters will tell a different story, with different main characters, all intertwined thanks to Dream, from chapter 7 to 10 would be the second part, a short story about a threat that stalks the world of dreams, and then chapter 11, which was an extra that all cat lovers loved and that with Calliope show how bad the human world is. All the stories are amazing, full of drama, fantasy, magic, horror, and suspense, you can't miss them.

¿Qué no amo? Que aún no se haya confirmado la segunda temporada, aún odio eso, The Sandman tiene todo el potencial posible para convertirse en otra de las series insignes de Netflix, y lo saben, si no, no hubieran liberado un capítulo extra donde abordan dos historias más, dos historias diferentes que solo siguen demostrando el potencial infinito de la serie. De verdad espero que haya más temporadas, si no lo hacen. Netflix estará tomando una de las peores decisiones de su vida, al contrario, pues tomó una de las mejores decisiones al cancelar Resident Evil, de eso no hay dud alguna.

La serie puede dividirse en dos partes, bueno, tres. Del capítulo 1 al capítulo 6 sería la primera parte, donde cada uno de los capítulos contará una historia diferente, con personajes principales diferentes, todos entrelazados gracias a Dream, del capítulo 7 al 10 sería la segunda parte, una historia corta sobre una amenaza que asecha al mundo de los sueños, y luego el capítlo 11, que fue un extra que todos los amentes de los gatos adoraron, y que con Caliope demuestran lo mal que está el mundo humano. Todas las historias son increíbles, llenas de drama, fantasía, magia, terror, suspenso, no puede perdérselas.

I don't know how many times I cried, I just know that each chapter is going to reach deep into each one of us. My favorite chapter is chapter 5, in this chapter, we will see how reality can be molded to the whims of a person who wants a more genuine world, without lies, and for a moment things seem to work, only to end in natural and destructive chaos that should not exist. For many people, Chapter 6 is the best, where we will see how Dream helps her sister, Death, Muerte, in her routine chores. That chapter is perfect from beginning to end, I love it.

This trailer is weird, I didn't like it, it's ok, but not quite, it didn't manage to capture the fantastic essence of the series, at least not at the beginning, and that's already a loss. Watch The Sandman, get into this world, and you will never regret watching one of the best series that Netflix has, let's just hope they make a second season, and a third and a fourth, to continue giving us the stories of Dream of the endless.

No sé cuántas veces lloré, solo sé que cada capítulo va a llegar a lo profundo de cada uno de nosotres. Mi capítulo favorito es el capítulo 5, en este capítulo veremos cómo la realidad puede ser moldeada a los antojos de una persona que desea un mundo más verdadero, sin mentires, y durante un momento las cosas parecen funcionar, solo para terminar en un caos natural y destructivo que no debería existir. Para muchas personas el capítulo 6 es el mejor, donde veremos cómo Dream ayuda a su hermana, Death, Muerte, en sus quehaceres rutinarios. Ese capítulo es perfecto de principio a fin, lo amo.

Ete trailer es raro, no me gustó, está bien, pero no del todo, no logró captar la escencia fantástica de la serie, al menos no al principio, y eso ya es una pérdida. Vean The Sandman, adéntrense en este mundo, nunca se van a arrepentir de ver una de las mejores series que tiene Netflix, tan solo espermos que hagan una segunda temporada, y una tercera y una cuarta, que nos sigan dando las historias de Dream of the endless.
