The White Lotus | Mom, Cringe

I just finished watching The White Lotus and I should already be sleeping, but as I was watching the series I forgot to take my medication two hours ago and now I'm not sleepy at all and I want to continue watching something, which is difficult for me as the power went out finishing watching the last chapter and I have nothing downloaded, well, yes, but it's not Supernatural, and that's the series I usually watch at night before going to sleep. I'll write a lot of rambling in this review, hopefully not that much, but they hold up.

The White Lotus... I didn't want to watch this series, well, in the end, I watched it, but I didn't want to at first, nothing caught my attention, just because of Sidney Sweeny I wanted to watch it, but in the end, the one and only Jennifer Coolidge was the one who convinced me to watch it and who kept me on the edge of sleep and disbelief during all this Sunday afternoon watching the whole series, without her I wouldn't have watched it, and the same will happen with the second season, if she's not there I won't watch it, or maybe I will to give it a chance to entertain me and make me laugh more than 6 times, which was the number of times it made me laugh this season.

Acabo de terminar de ver The White Lotus y ya debería estar durmiendo, pero como estaba viendo la serie olvidé tomarme la medicación hace dos horas y ahora no tengo nada de sueño y quiero seguir viendo algo, cosa que se me dificulta pues se fue la luz terminando de ver el último capítulo y no tengo nada descargado, bueno, sí, pero no es de Supernatural, y esa es la serie que suelo ver en las noches antes de dormir. Escribiré muchas incoherencias en esta reseña, espero que no tantas, pero se aguantan.

The White Lotus... yo no quería ver esta serie, bueno, al final la vi, pero no quería en un principio, nada me llamaba la atención, solo por Sidney Sweeny quería verla, pero al final la única e inigualable Jennifer Coolidge fue la que me convenció de verla y quien me mantuvo al borde del sueño y la incredulidad durante toda esta tarde de domingo viendo la serie completa, sin ella no la hubiera visto, y lo mismo pasará con la segunda temporada, si ella no está no la veré, o quizás sí, para darle una oportunidad de que me entretenga y me haga reír más de 6 veces, que fueron la cantidad de veces que me hizo reír esta temporada.

The series is good, but it's not for me, this is one of those moments where (I love me) you have to accept that the problem or the issue in conflict lies in you and not in what you are watching. I don't know if I will be able to laugh or be properly entertained with the content of this type in a week, six months, three years, I don't know, but at this moment of my life, it is impossible for me to laugh or enjoy something that although it is made with black humor and cynicism, a lot of cynicism, with the sole intention of entertaining, the specific content it shows us does not generate anything in me but aversion. Some people enjoy it and it's perfect, but I don't enjoy it and it's perfect too.

Ya el nombre nos da el primer indicio de lo que nos depara, un grupo de gente blanca adinerada y privilegiada llega de vacaciones por un mes a un hotel en Hawai, y durante esta semana los veremos ser lo que se podría llamar un gran grupo de personas de mierda, entre sí, con otros, con el mudo y el universo, en general, y se supone que nos debemos reír al verlos ser una muestra más de la mierda que ya existe en el mundo, yo no pude hacerlo muchas veces, yo estuve en un estado perpetuo y constante de incredulidad y cringe, de asco, no sé, repulsión posiblemente, si lo quieren llamar así.

La serie es buena, pero no es para mí, este es uno de esos momentos en que (me amo) hay que aceptar que el problema o la cuestión en conflicto reside en uno y no en lo que se está viendo. No sé si pueda llegar a reírme o entretenerme apropiadamente con contenido de este tipo en una semana, seis meses, tres años, no sé, pero en este momento de mi vida se me hace imposible reírme o disfrutar de algo que si bien está hecho con humor negro y cinismo, mucho cinismo, con la sola intención de entretener, el contenido en específico que nos muestra no genera nada en mí más que aversión. Hay gente que lo disfruta y es perfecto, pero yo no lo disfruto y es perfecto también.

I have my three favorite characters from the series, I will talk about them in no specific order. Tanya, my dear and beloved Jennifer Coolidge is the reason I watched the series. Tanya was my life preserver in the middle of the sea, among so many shitty people I was watching in the series, she was the only one who gave me the possibility to breathe and be able to feel good things towards someone, which doesn't matter, because in the end, she ends up breaking our hearts, horribly and that you should expect from the beginning, but we don't want to see it and we expect it to be different, but no, she is not so different from the rest of the group she belongs to.

Armond, our hotel manager, will be in charge of trying to give as much comfort as possible to our select group of people. My admiration for Murray Bartlett, fuck, he deserves it, it's very easy to play someone privileged who practically has the power to materialize the things they want just by saying them, but it's not easy at all to play who must put up with those people, fuck, I ended up loving him and I never thought of doing it. Quinn is my third favorite person in the series, I won't say much about him, I'll just say he's the hope that things can become different, even when you have everything going against you, he's everything good in the world.

Tengo a mis tres personajes favoritos de la serie, hablaré de ellos sin ningún orden en especifico. Tanya, mi querida y amada Jennifer Coolidge, la razón por la que vi la serie. Tanya fue mi salvavidas en medio del mar, entre tanta gente de mierda que estaba viendo en la serie, ella era la único que me daba la posibilidad de respirar y poder sentir cosas buenas hacia alguien, cosa que no importa, porque al final nos termina rompiendo el corazón, de una forma horrible y que deberías esperar desde un principio, pero no lo queremos ver y esperamos que sea diferente, pero no, no es tan diferente al resto del grupo al que ella pertenece.

Armond, nuestro gerente del hotel, quien se encargará de tratar de darle la mayor comodidad posible a nuestro selecto grupo de personas. Mi admiración hacia Murray Bartlett, joder, la merece, es muy fácil hacer de alguien privilegiado que prácticamente tienen el poder de materializar las cosas que quieren con solo decirlas, pero no es nada fácil hacer de quién debe soportar a esa gente, joder, lo terminé amando y nunca pensé en hacerlo. Quinn es mi tercera persona favorita de la serie, no diré mucho de él, solo diré que es la esperanza de que las cosas pueden llegar a ser diferentes, incluso cuando se tiene todo en contra, es todo lo bueno que existe en el mundo.

We will see many things in the series, family dramas, couple dramas, those who have been married for 22 years, and those who have just days of marriage and are on honeymoon, that is, who the hell takes the mother to the honeymoon? Friendship dramas, newborn love dramas, all this under the light of wealthy people who make banal and mediocre everything that shouldn't be, the series makes fun of itself, of the reality, they are mocking, and that, at least for me, made me not enjoy it almost at all, but I finished watching it, that says a lot about the series.

I want to end this review talking about the insignia moment, the moment when I said 'I love the series, well, I don't love it, but the series was redeemed with that moment. Few times a fuck up can make things have any salvation, in real life or fiction, that's why the moment I saw someone shitting, defecating, spilling shit out of their ass in a very literal way, it was at that moment that I had a fit of laughter with coughing, I cried, and I said I loved the series because that moment was unique, it seemed like an epiphany and everything, it has no equal, that fuck up saved the series for me, that fuck up gave sense to my hours that I felt lost after spending the whole afternoon forcing myself to finish watching it, but that saving fuck up came and I enjoyed it as if I had fucked it up, I mean, that moment is the one that gave me the most satisfaction of the series, I love the ending, the ending is the most real and unreal possible, and it hurts, I suffer, I still cry, but without that fuck up the series would have no salvation for me.

I know that if you saw it you surely enjoyed it, I didn't, and if you didn't see it, do it, if you didn't enjoy it, the moment you see that shitty ending you will feel that your soul returns to your body and you will feel that it was worth watching the series despite everything.

Veremos muchas cosas en la serie, dramas familiares, dramas de pareja, de quienes tienen 22 años de casados y de quienes tienen apenas días de casados y están de luna de miel, o sea, ¿quién vergas se lleva a la mamá a la luna de miel? Dramas de amistades, dramas de amores recién nacidos, todo esto bajo la luz de la gente adinerada que vuelven banal y mediocre todo lo que no debería, la serie se burla de sí misma, de la realidad de la que se están mofando, y eso, al menos para mí, hizo que no la disfrutara casi nada, pero la terminé de ver, eso dice mucho de la serie.

Quiero terminar esta reseña hablando del momento insigne, del momento en el que dije 'amo la serie', bueno, no la amo, pero sí se redimió la serie con ese momento. Pocas veces una cagada es capaz de hacer que las cosas tengan salvación alguna, en la vida real o en la ficción, es por eso que en el momento que vi a alguien cagando, defecando, hechando mierda por el culo de una forma muy literal, fue en ese momento en el que me dio un ataque de risa con tos, lloré, y dije que amaba la serie, porque ese momento fue único, parecía una epifanía y todo, no tiene igual, esa cagada salvó la serie para mí, esa cagada le dio sentido a mis horas que sentía perdidas después de pasar toda la tarde obligándome a terminar de verla, pero llegó esa cagada salvadora y me la disfruté como si yo la hubiera cagado, o sea, ese momento es el que más satisfacción me dio de la serie, amo el final, el final es es lo más real e irreal posible, y duele, sufro, aún lloro, pero sin esa cagada la serie no tendría salvación para mí.

Sé que si la vieron seguramente la disfrutaron, yo no lo hice, y si no la vieron, háganlo, que si no se la disfrutan, en el momento en el que vean esa cagada sentirán que el alma les vuelve al cuerpo y sentirán que valió la pena ver la serie a pesar de todo.
