Finalmente, el título nacional número 11 en la historia del Expreso Azul fue conseguido. Un equipo plagado de estrellas nacionales hizo historia la noche del pasado día jueves, 27 de octubre, al vencer (81-87) en el quinto duelo de la Gran Final a Cocodrilos de Caracas.

Tras el descanso de dos días, los jugadores de Trotamundos de Carabobo salieron con todo a derrotar a Cocodrilos de Caracas para consagrarse de una vez en la capital venezolana y no darle más largas al asunto. Para ello, el coach Néstor «Mamá Osa» Salazar le dio la confianza a Donta Smith, Jornan Zamora, David Cubillán, Miguel Ruíz y Néstor Colmenares, para que desde el salto entre dos la balanza se inclinara a favor y los jugadores pudieran obtener ese envión anímico que los terminara de convencer de que hoy era el día para ser campeón. Y vaya que lo logró, faltando solo 2:22 minutos en el reloj para finalizar el primer cuarto, la visita ya contaba con un colchón de nueve puntos.

Aunque ese primer periodo finalizó con solo una posesión de diferencia y Cocodrilos vendría de menos a más para llegar al último set con una ligera ventaja de dos puntos, todo cambió cuando Zamora con bandeja igualó la acciones faltando 6:57 minutos en el reloj, seguidamente, tras un rebote defensivo de Smith, «La Bestia» Colmenares puso arriba al Expreso Azul y desde allí los visitantes no volvieron a verse a bajo en el marcador. Entre Smith, Zamora, Ruíz y Colmenares se encargaron de mantener la ventaja y asegurar el título para los carabobeños.

Tras la finalización comenzó la celebración de un nuevo campeonato para Trotamundos de Carabobo que ya suma 11 títulos nacionales y 3 internacionales, para un total de 14 trofeos.

Debemos mejorar // We must improve

Como es costumbre en mis post, sobre el final les comento un poco sobre lo que opino al respecto de un partido, sin embargo, en esta ocasión les comentare un poco más sobre lo general y no solo del cotejo.

¿Realmente esta liga es mejor que la extinta LPB? Mi respuesta a esta pregunta claramente es un no, hay cosas por mejorar en una liga que muchas veces quiso darle ventajas a un equipo sobre otro con reglas absurdas, los más afectados siempre fueron los equipos más grandes, pareciera que se les haya olvidado que el deporte se trata de igualdad y honestidad. Por otra parte, la cantidad de equipos debe ser revisada al igual que los dueños de cada uno de ellos, porque a la mitad de un campeonato cuando ya sabes que estás prácticamente eliminado, no puedes salir con que no tienes el dinero suficiente para correr con todos los gastos que representa mantener un equipo profesional. Mi llamado de atención es para que no hagan que el deporte colectivo que más alegrías nos ha dado como país, termine siendo un chiste del cual tengamos que reírnos para no llorar.

Aplaudo lo hecho por Jornan Zamora, al levantar la voz cuando fue entrevistado luego de recibir el título que lo acredita como el Jugador Más Valioso de la primera edición de la SPB. Esto demuestra que siempre los más afectados y a los que realmente les duele el baloncesto profesional de Venezuela es a sus jugadores.

Pero ya, no quiero opacar o entristecerme por el estado actual del baloncesto en mi país, al contrario, me alegra ver nuevamente a Néstor Salazar registrar sus nombre en los libritos de historia. Ya son 6 los títulos obtenidos por «Mamá Osa» en este deporte, igualando así a su tutor, Pedro Espinoza, como los coach más laureados en el baloncesto criollo.

Lo que más me emocionaría es ver nuevamente al equipo campeón de Venezuela disputando una competición internacional, desde la extinta Liga de las Américas ningún equipo venezolano ha vuelto a los tabloncillos continentales, el último fue Guaros de Lara en 2019, desde allí ese torneo fue remplazado por la Liga de Campeones de Baloncesto de las Américas y ningún equipo criollo ha tenido el privilegio de disputarlo, no por situación deportiva, sino por detalles extradeportivos que siempre terminan apartando a los clubes venezolanos de dicha competición. Esperemos que desde la FVB presionen para que nuevamente digamos presente en tierras foráneas y demostremos que el básquet en este país renace como el fénix.

As usual in my posts, at the end I comment a little about what I think about a game, however, this time I will comment a little more about the general and not only about the game.

Is this league really better than the extinct LPB? My answer to this question is clearly no, there are things to improve in a league that many times wanted to give advantages to one team over another with absurd rules, the most affected were always the bigger teams, it seems that they have forgotten that sports is about equality and honesty. On the other hand, the number of teams should be reviewed as well as the owners of each one of them, because in the middle of a championship when you already know that you are practically eliminated, you can't say that you don't have enough money to cover all the expenses of maintaining a professional team. My call of attention is so that they do not make the collective sport that has given us more joys as a country, end up being a joke that we have to laugh to avoid crying.

I applaud Jornan Zamora for raising his voice when he was interviewed after receiving the title that accredits him as the Most Valuable Player of the first edition of the SPB. This shows that always the most affected and those who are really hurt by professional basketball in Venezuela are the players.

But now, I do not want to overshadow or be saddened by the current state of basketball in my country, on the contrary, I am happy to see Néstor Salazar register his name in the history books again. There are already 6 titles obtained by "Mama Bear" in this sport, thus equaling his tutor, Pedro Espinoza, as the most successful coaches in Creole basketball.

What would excite me the most is to see again the Venezuelan champion team disputing an international competition, since the extinct League of the Americas no Venezuelan team has returned to the continental boards, the last one was Guaros de Lara in 2019, since then that tournament was replaced by the Basketball Champions League of the Americas and no Creole team has had the privilege of disputing it, not because of sports situation, but because of extra-sporting details that always end up removing Venezuelan clubs from that competition. Let's hope that the FVB puts pressure on us so that we can be present again in foreign lands and show that basketball in this country is reborn like the phoenix.
