Hace poco escuchando precisamente de los Bee Gees se me vino a la mente algo, cuantas bandas están o estaban conformadas por hermanos que realmente hayan trascendido en la música? - y la respuesta es que varias pero no tantas como se pudiera pensar. La lista puede ser grande pero en esta ocasión me voy a quedar con bandas anglosajones porque de habla hispana se me ocurren Estopa y Mecano. Obviamente van a a quedar muchas por fuera pero tampoco quiero hacer esto infinito.

Recently, while listening to the Bee Gees, something came to mind: how many bands are or were made up of siblings that have truly made a name for themselves in music? The answer is several, but not as many as you might think. The list could be long, but this time I'm going to stick to English-speaking bands because, from Spanish-speaking countries, Estopa and Mecano come to mind. Obviously, many more will be left out, but I don't want to make this endless.

- Bee Gees

La cantidad de "aura", así como dicen las nuevas generaciones de hoy en día, que tenían estos tres señores era descomunal. Barry, Maurice y Robin Gibb fueron los 3 hermanos que le dieron un sonido a una generación completa por allá en la década de los 70 en donde fueron los amos y maestros de la música disco. En lo personal esta música la llevo muy arraigada porque es una influencia que mi mamá me dejó, incluso hoy en día la sigue escuchando religiosamente y es imposible que no te guste. Creo que son las voces tan únicas y particulares las que hicieron que la gente se enamorara de ellos. La voz de Barry era y no se si seguirá siendo el gancho, esa agudeza y llena de falsetes es impresionante de escuchar. De los 3 es él el que sigue con nosotros pero larga vida a los Bee Gees.

The sheer amount of "aura," as the younger generations say, that these three gentlemen possessed was immense. Barry, Maurice, and Robin Gibb were the three brothers who defined the sound of an entire generation back in the 70s, when they were the undisputed masters of disco. Personally, I have a deep connection to this music because it's an influence my mother instilled in me; even today, she still listens to it religiously, and it's impossible not to love it. I think it was their unique and distinctive voices that made people fall in love with them. Barry's voice was, and I don't know if it still is, the hook—that high-pitched, falsetto-filled voice is breathtaking to hear. Of the three, he's the one still with us, but long live the Bee Gees!

- Van Halen

Van Halen, esta banda americana creería que fue una de las más influyentes del hard rcok en la historia. A Eddie y Alex se les ocurrió formar esta banda a principios de los 70 y la verdad es que el éxito fue masivo y rotundo. Fueron iconos a finales de los 70 y los 80 gracias básicamente a que Eddie era una bestia con la guitarra, si le preguntan a cualquier guitarrista probablemente te diga que él es de los más influyentes en la música sobretodo por la gran técnica que tenía y el carisma que desprendía arriba de un escenario. Van Halen es un sonido y con Jump lo pueden notar, esa guitarra y batería son casi que únicas. Cuando Eddie muere en el 2020, creo, la banda queda disuelta oficialmente. El rock no puede ser concebido sin tomar en cuenta en Van Halen.

Van Halen, this American band I would believe was one of the most influential hard rock bands in history. It occurred to Eddie and Alex to form this band in the early 70s and the truth is that the success was massive and resounding. They were icons in the late 70s and 80s thanks basically to the fact that Eddie was a beast on the guitar. If you ask any guitarist they will probably tell you that he is one of the most influential in music, especially because of the great technique he had and the charisma he gave off on stage. Van Halen is a sound and with Jump you can notice it, that guitar and drums are almost unique. When Eddie dies in 2020, I believe, the band is officially dissolved. Rock cannot be conceived without taking Van Halen into account.

- The Beach Boys

Los hermanos Wilson al inicio de los 60 crearon una banda únicamente formada por casi en totalidad por familiares, eran 3 hermanos, un primo y un amigo muy cercano de ellos. Brian, Dennis y Carl fueron los pilares, el primero era la mente maestra y Carl era el de la voz armoniosa. Ellos fueron lo más cool de su época porque quisieron buscar un sonido totalmente nuevo, uno que se asociara con la playa, con California, el surf, los carros hasta que después maduraron musicalmente hablando y lograron canciones extraordinarias como esta, God Only Knows en la voz de Carl. Es verdad que ellos son una banda de rock como tal pero escogí esta balada para demostrar lo profundamente versátiles que llegaron a ser. De mis bandas favoritas de siempre.

In the early 1960s, the Wilson brothers formed a band comprised almost entirely of family members: three brothers, a cousin, and a close friend. Brian, Dennis, and Carl were the pillars of the group. Brian was the mastermind, and Carl provided the melodic vocals. They were the coolest act of their time because they sought a completely new sound, one associated with the beach, California, surfing, and cars. Later, they matured musically and created extraordinary songs like "God Only Knows," sung by Carl. While they are a rock band, I chose this ballad to demonstrate their profound versatility. One of my all-time favorite bands.

- ¡Bonus track! -- Creedance Clearwater Revival

Creedance es una de esas bandas de las que probablemente se hable "poco" y particularmente no entiendo porque. Los Fogerty, John y Tom fueron dos de los creadores de un sonido que a finales de los 60 fue conocido como el "rock de pantano" ya que era una mezcla bien peculiar entre el rock, con el country y el blues; al final todo resultó siendo muy sureño típico de los Estados Unidos. Lo curioso es que a pesar de dejar tanta marca y grandes himnos fue una banda que apenas duró como 5 años de formada nada más, las inmensas diferencias entre estos hermanos terminaron destruyendo un proyecto que pudo ser más grande de lo que terminó siendo. Me quedo con este tema porque es una de las más melancólicas de ellos o por lo menos más diferente. La paradoja es que al final fue el éxito más rotundo consideradas de las joyas del rock de siempre.

Creedence Clearwater Revival is one of those bands that's probably not talked about much, and I particularly don't understand why. The Fogerty brothers, John and Tom, were two of the creators of a sound that in the late 60s was known as "swamp rock," a peculiar mix of rock, country, and blues; ultimately, it all came together with a very Southern feel, typical of the United States. The curious thing is that despite leaving such a mark and creating great anthems, the band only lasted about five years. The immense differences between the brothers ended up destroying a project that could have been so much bigger. I'm drawn to this song because it's one of their most melancholic, or at least one of their most different. The paradox is that it ultimately became their biggest hit, considered one of the all-time gems of rock.

Faltaron muchas y muy famosas pero me quise enfocar en gustos más personales. Se que saben cuales son esas bandas que deberían de estar acá, es por eso que si quieres me las dejes en los comentarios, hay por lo menos 3 que son bastantes grandes en la historia.
