(ESP-ENG) Músicos que partieron en sus mejores momentos // Musicians who passed away in their best moments!
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
It is somewhat inevitable that at some point when we are listening to music we get a song of a singer who is no longer with us, I think it is even impossible that this does not happen and obviously in some cases this premise does not apply but in many others yes, what would have happened if this artist had not died so quickly? And there are several musicians that even being extremely premature his death left us an impressive musical legacy which makes me wonder the previous question. We will never know the answer but we can do the exercise of imagining a Bob Marley for example with 60 years old singing or a Jimi Hendrix giving concerts.
This topic came to my mind listening to the king of reggae and I realized that they are always almost the same songs we hear, which is logical and what led me to wonder how much reggae would have changed if there were a couple more albums. It is also a bit of a "cliché" when we talk about this topic not to relate it to the "club of the 27", and although this publication is not about that, there is a certain relationship. For those who do not know this "club" is made up of artists and musicians who died at the age of 27, a lot of controversy and conspiracy theories around this that today is not relevant. Anyway, in today's list I show you some of those musicians who for me and for the world left a little earlier than they should have.
- Avicii
Avicii or Tim Bergling was one of the most important DJs and composers that music has had in recent years and to think that he died with only 28 years makes us reflect on all that he had to offer, in fact it is said that there were more than two hundred incomplete productions. The issue here is that he met fame very early, at 16 I think he began to sound and from then on everything was on the rise, never stopped to the point of making collaborations with Madonna, Lenny Kravitz, etc.. Personally he was one of the DJs I liked the most and I still like him, he had a very unique way of composing because behind his songs there was often a message he wanted to convey, he didn't just focus on beats and rhythms, unlike some of his colleagues. But alcohol and mental health problems took him away quickly causing him to commit suicide 4 years ago. It affected me a lot because as I said I'm a big consumer of his music which makes me wonder how many new songs we wouldn't have if those inner demons were gone from his life....
- Bob Marley
Bob was 36 years old when he died, imagine everything he did for music in general being so young, everything he produced and composed, all the hymns because his songs are that, that we know and sing today with only 36 years old. Today he would be about 77 years old but if we would have enjoyed him until he was 60 I think I'm satisfied and he died and I wasn't born yet so I met him after his death which I think is very surreal if you ask me being such a great artist. Marley had like 18 or 19 albums, I don't remember the exact amount, in a period of a little more than 10 years, numbers that seem to me a real madness. He left us, I think, at a time when his musical maturity was very great, he had already done great things that unfortunately made him known after his departure. He died of cancer that started with a wound in his foot. He played a lot of soccer and in one of those games he got a wound that eventually got worse, the doctors recommended him to amputate the toe but for religious reasons he did not do it, besides it would be uncomfortable for him to be on stage without the thumb of his foot. Everything got complicated and he died.
- Amy Winehouse
The best song you will ever hear from her is this one, it is a real gem of a song. It seems unbelievable that at the time of writing this it has been more than ten years since her departure, back in 2011. This was another one of the deaths that I was impressed to know given how extraordinary she was singing and performing, that style she had very much in the style of the 30's, 40's and even 50's made her one of a kind. It is also impressive that she was able to make only 2 albums, the last one being her masterpiece which led her to win several awards, her musical career was only 7 or 8 years at the most, she started at 19 and died at 27. She is another of the artists, well like everyone on this list, that we do not measure much what they would have achieved if their lives had followed their path, Amy was called to be on par with Adele and why not, in the future to be a Madonna as complicated as this may seem but it is that talent, voice and charisma she had it without any doubt. But one afternoon in July 2011, Amy was found dead in her bed due to alcohol intoxication. More than ten years and it's hard to assimilate the news...
- Jimi Hendrix
Jimi Hendrix is one of the best guitarists in history, if not the best, not only I say it, people say it in general. I honestly can't say much about it because I don't know much about the instrument but what I do know is the legacy he left in only FOUR years of professional career and that for many musicians he is one of the great references today. I once read that Jimi never studied music, that throughout his life he was self-taught and those of us who know a little about music know that this is clearly not an impediment, many times everything is a matter of hearing and in this case of innate ability but for the purists it is a bit of an offense, I don't understand it but sometimes that's the way it is. Another member of the infamous club of the 27 who died of asphyxiation due to the consumption of various substances. As has become a pattern, Hendrix suffered from depression and anxiety, and that is because becoming famous so quickly and so suddenly can take its toll if you do not know how to manage it properly. Jimi's future was promising, immense and infinite, an artist like him will never be born again and it was a pity that we could not enjoy more of his music, of The Jimi Hendrix Experience.
- Kurt Cobain
This sad list could not be complete without Kurt. An icon in pop culture who also left us early due to the inability to keep up with the pressure of fame and that according to him was also influenced by the fact that the music industry was increasingly in decline. Cobain's life professionally speaking was also short, less than 10 years, where he became known for Nirvana. But being tied to a life of excess, like everyone on this list has its consequences. I would dare to say that Kurt was the one who could have gone the furthest of those named here, understanding that each style is different but he was already a musical monster when he left us in 1994, he was a trend setter, he had and has a huge fan base and an ability to compose and play the guitar like few have ever seen. I think it is impossible to see how far he could have gone, no one will ever know, with some we could have had an idea but with Kurt that task for me is impossible. He is one of the greatest artists that contemporary music has ever produced and almost 30 years after his departure he is still in the hearts of many.
This list is incomplete, I know. I focused on the most relevant according to me but I should mention Janis Joplin, Selena, Jim Morrison, artists who also left us early and whose futures were very, very promising and bright. I think that Selena, at 24 years old when she died, was the one who could have had the most future; if at such a young age she is what she is today for Latin American culture, imagining her with a 25 year career is something very difficult to process because of how incredibly great she would have been. But well, we can continue to enjoy the legacy of all and think that mental illness is something serious and that no matter how much fame and money you have, the emptiness that can be bigger and the proof of them with all those named today.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos escuchamos en la próxima!
