Seguimos avanzando en el calendario de la Formula Uno y esta vez llegamos a la quinta carrera la cual se llevó a cabo en la ciudad de Miami, Florida en un circuito totalmente nuevo y muy al estilo de la esencia de lo que es Miami. Evidentemente ese circuito puede que tenga ciertas cosas que sean mejorables pero para ser la primera vez que se corre allí, en mi opinión, creo que todo salió bastante bien. Una pista que invitaba a que ocurriera un desastre o que toda la carrera fuera un trencito, afortunadamente no vimos lo primero pero si lo segundo, hasta cierto momento.
We continue advancing in the Formula One calendar and this time we reached the fifth race which was held in the city of Miami, Florida in a totally new circuit and very much in the style of the essence of what Miami is. Obviously this circuit may have certain things that could be improved, but for the first time racing there, in my opinion, I think everything went quite well. Yo no vemos a esa Red Bull con dudas y con problemas que vimos en las primeras carreras, a medida que pasan las carreras se ven más solidos y esos altibajos parecen haber quedado atrás.

Llegábamos al día sábado, día de la pole position, en donde veríamos un amplio dominio de la Ferrari. En las prácticas siempre contábamos con que Leclerc iba a estar en los puestos más altos, a diferencia de Sainz; siendo los Red Bull un poco más constantes ya que tanto el Checo como Max casi siempre hicieron acto de presencia en lo más alto. Pero eso en la pole position no pasó y ambos pilotos de Ferrari dieron el golpe del timón para ser los más rápidos de la sesión sabatina.
We arrived at Saturday, pole position day, where we would see a wide dominance of Ferrari. De cuarto cerraría el Checo y de quinto el que viene siendo la sorpresa de la temporada considerando el carro que tiene, Valteri Bottas con su Alfa Romeo. Hamilton terminó sexto, detrás de su ex compañero, como si todo se pusiera en contra del británico para seguir haciendo su temporada un infierno.

Día de carrera. Todos los ojos estaban puestos en la primera fila de la parrilla de salida pertenecientes a los dos Ferrari pero es que en la segunda estaban los dos pilotos de la Red Bull, así que si, desde el principio ya se nos anticipaba una carrera en donde ambos equipos no aflojarían una décima. Cuando las luces se apagaron pasó lo que muchos esperaban, Verstappen atacó a Sainz al instante y se puso de segundo dejando al español de tercero siendo amenazado por el Checo Pérez.

Algo que cambió mucho la estrategia fue el hecho de que casi todos los equipos decidieran hacer solo una parada en vez de dos, tal y como Pirelli recomendaba. Muchos equipos salieron con el compuesto duro pero los que iban en los primeros puestos habían salido con el medio por lo que las primeras paradas, que se suponían tenían que darse en las vueltas 15-19 se comenzaron a dar en la 24-25, todo esto motivado a lo que les dije, buscar terminar la carrera con los compuestos duros haciendo una sola parada.
Something that changed the strategy a lot was the fact that almost all the teams decided to make only one stop instead of two, as Pirelli recommended. Many teams went out with the hard compound but those who were in the first positions had gone out with the medium compound so the first stops, which were supposed to happen in laps 15-19, started to happen in laps 24-25, all this motivated to what I told you, looking to finish the race with the hard compounds making only one stop.
Leclerc fue el primero en hacerlo para que una vuelta después lo hiciera Verstappen. Con esta movida no se alteraban las posiciones y todo seguía igual, las cuatro primeras posiciones pertenecían a Ferrari y Red Bull en esa eterna batalla que la temporada pasada protagonizaron la Mercedes y la marca austriaca. Hablando de la Mercedes para este punto de la carrera Russell estaba quinto y Hamilton séptimo con la diferencia de que el primero todavía no había hecho la parada a los pits siendo la vuelta numero 30. Hay que decir desde ya que Russell hizo una buena carrera acompañado con un poco de suerte.

La "suerte" en este caso fue el sinónimo de un Safety Car que se dio por un choque de Lando Norris el cual fue aprovechado por Russell para cambiar sus cauchos y así no perder tantas posiciones. Todo parece salirle bien a George últimamente. Pero también esa monotonía que estábamos viendo en donde la ventaja de Verstappen con respecto a Leclerc era de casi ocho segundos y de la persecución del Checo con Sainz cada vez se hacía más lejana, parecía acabarse y todo, faltando unas 15 vueltas, volvía a comenzar y las ventajas se acortaron.
"Luck" in this case was the synonym of a Safety Car that occurred due to a crash by Lando Norris, which was used by Russell to change his tires and thus not lose so many positions. Sin duda alguna después de este Safety Car tuvimos otra carrera llena de adrenalina porque ahí fue cuando vimos esa batalla campal entre los 4 pilotos, dos luchando por el liderato y los otros dos por el tercer lugar. Un Verstappen que no bajaba el ritmo el cual era un poco superior al de Leclerc pero que este no se rendía y que faltando 3 vueltas la ventaja era mínima, una que con un simple error podía cambiar el destino de la carrera. Por otro lado, Sainz y el Checo tenían otra lucha pero esta se decidió rápido ya que el mexicano se quiso arriesgar pero se le fue un poco el carro de largo en una de las curvas y ahí el español recupero una ventaja que no soltó hasta el final.
Undoubtedly after this Safety Car we had another race full of adrenaline because that was when we saw that pitched battle between the 4 drivers, two fighting for the lead and the other two for third place. Verstappen did not lower the pace which was a little higher than Leclerc's but he did not give up and with 3 laps to go the advantage was minimal, one that with a simple mistake could change the fate of the race. On the other hand, Sainz and Checo had another fight but this was decided quickly as the Mexican wanted to take a risk but the car went a little long in one of the curves and there the Spaniard regained an advantage that he did not let go until the end.

Terminaba la carrera con una victoria solvente y contundente por parte de Verstappen que cada vez se consolida más y nos da a pensar que esos fantasmas de las carreras iniciales se han ido. No hay que olvidarse de Leclerc quien quedó segundo con un Ferrari que está para grandes cosas pero que creo que está siendo superado ligeramente por la Red Bull en los últimos premios.
The race ended with a solvent and convincing victory by Verstappen who is consolidating more and more and gives us to think that those ghosts of the initial races are gone. We must not forget Leclerc who was second with a Ferrari that is for great things but I think it is being slightly surpassed by the Red Bull in recent awards.
El podio lo completa Sainz. Los de Mercedes terminaron de quinto y sexto respectivamente logrando unos puntos importantes que si bien no los pone en la lucha por el campeonato, sirve un poco para la moral y los ánimos de un equipo que se ve que está siendo superado por la Red Bull y Ferrari esta temporada. Bottas sigue demostrando grandes cosas y volvió a puntear lo que se traduce en más puntos para un equipo que el año pasado no figuraba en lo absoluto.
The podium was completed by Sainz. The Mercedes finished fifth and sixth respectively achieving important points that although it does not put them in the fight for the championship, it serves a little for the morale and spirits of a team that is being overtaken by Red Bull and Ferrari this season. Bottas continues to show great things and scored again, which translates into more points for a team that last year did not figure at all.

Leclerc sigue comandando la pelea por el campeonato con 104 puntos pero ya Verstappen alcanzó los 85 puntos por lo que la distancia se acorta. Ya la lucha por los campeonatos de los equipos si es otra cosa, Ferrari arriba de la Red Bull pero por tan solo 6 puntos. El próximo premio será el de Cataluña, España en dos semanas, el 22 de Mayo. Así que nos vemos en unos cuantos días.
Leclerc continues to lead the fight for the championship with 104 points but Verstappen has already reached 85 points so the distance is shortening.
