First of all, Merry Christmas to everyone here, I hope you had a great time, it's been a few days of pause but we are back to talk about another Marvel product that was released not long ago and the truth is that it has been one of the best series I've had the opportunity to see. Marvel has released four great series, The Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki and now this one and I can say that as much as I liked WandaVision, Hawkeye is first on the podium.
Don't misunderstand, Loki and the Scarlet Witch's story are fascinating, I liked them a lot but Hawkeye has something that makes it very, very good, I don't know if it's because he doesn't have powers that you don't expect what's going to happen or if it's because of that reason that it's much more "realistic". Besides there are a couple of appearances, which I can't tell you about because it would be a big spoiler, that also influenced my decision. So without further ado, let's see what this new plot is about.
This story is set some time after the events of Endgame where the Avengers took different paths, as is the case of Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner). Barton is retired from all heroic activity to be fully dedicated to his family. On the other hand, in parallel, there is Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) who is a young girl, extremely good with the bow and in other disciplines, who dreams of being a superhero one day.
Everything is turned upside down for her when she gets involved in the middle of some robberies and a criminal organization that eventually, by fate or not, will make their paths join with Clint's, who will be forced to come out of retirement. Add to this that ghosts from the former Avenger's past appear to liven up the party, and the result is an action-packed series.
There are several things to say and one of them is that the first chapter of this series did more for Clint than all the movies in which he appeared, imagine after finishing the series what I thought. This story also shows that it is not necessary to make big super productions with great visual effects to be able to like and attract the attention of the fans and here we do not see any of that, what we do see is a great plot with lots of action and a story that really keeps you always on the edge of your seat.
In addition to what I mentioned before, Hawkeye takes place in an environment of this time of the year, that is to say, with Christmas vibes, which makes it more familiar than usual. One of Marvel's hallmarks is comedy and that is also very present here, in fact I would go so far as to say that it is one of their main genres, action and comedy. Here you laugh at the same time you enjoy great scenes full of action and with the touch of which I spoke at the beginning, with a lot of realism.
Because yes, he is a superhero but he is in the webs of a criminal network with people dedicated to organized crime, worth the redundancy. A hero that again Jeremy Renner did very well, to do these roles is undeniable the physical condition you need and that is something that seems that Renner has not lost much plus the chemistry he has with Hailee is pretty good, in fact it reminds me a lot of that duet of him with Natasha, I think that was a little bit the intention.
And speaking of Hailee I must say that her heroine skills surprised me a lot, at first I thought it would be something like a filler or a complement to Jeremy and nothing further from reality. She is very protagonist with a lot of charisma, grace and above all great skills for this type of interpretation, for something she does for the first time and after having seen so many characters, she did it excellently.
As I said it is a fantastic series where the effects that we saw for example in The Avengers are not present, on the contrary it is a simple story but it fulfills everything you expect knowing who its protagonists are. There is action, plenty of action, there is a great story that gives a lot to think about in the future, characters that appear that can excite the fan and in general a lot of entertainment which is what we are looking for at the end of everything.
There are six episodes of approximately 45 minutes that are available on Disney Plus. I give this first season a solid 8.5/10 because it did not disappoint me in any way, it sounds repetitive but the series is well worth watching so I encourage everyone to do it, whether you are a fan of this great Marvel universe or not.
