A Doctor's Rant 7 (ENG/ESP):TO WHOM MUCH IS GIVEN || A QUIEN MUCHO SE LE DA

Generally speaking, much has been given to a Nigerian trained Doctor, as well as all health and medical practitioners, going from the way we were trained, even with scarcity of the best resources and reading old books and following old syllabuses, we still stand the test of the world when we go out there, I often want to ask my self why, is it because we had the best, definitely not?

I came to notice that it is not every Nigerian Doctor out there that are making it, in fact some doctors who fled the country no longer practice medicine. Some have taken up menial jobs like uber driving, nannying and cleaners, other have found more profiting and satisfying fields to go, most times the reason for this I learnt was to find a footing to fund their board licensing exams before they can practice in those places, but as the story I hear goes, some never really get to write it as comfort and complacency sets in and they settle for other opportunities they find and Life goes on.

It is not their fault, these people find it easier to earn in a foreign country than work their ass off for little over here. The number of hours some house officers like @bhoa and @ebingo are working is terrible, no one deserves to work like that, I also passed through it and it is really crazy. I salute those guys for still finding time to be creative on the hive platform.

Family

They made most of the sacrifices and gave the best for us to survive out there. One of my biggest mantra is to never forget family. Family may not have to be blood related but it still feels human to have a family at times, while chasing other expectations. They deserve the time, the love and the presence.

God

Yes, family came before God, in the priority list this time, God himself is a typical family man and would do same, he instructs to keep and see to that as well. As a believer, the certainty that God requires some things from us is there. At a point in my time of practice, I had'nt gone to church in close to 2 months, I had to even still out time to pray and need so much spiritual rejuvenation, thanks to a friend who had invited me to a camp meeting I never regretted attending, setting all else aside. I look forward to such experiences always. Seeking first the kingdom and its righteousness is also an expectation.

Sí, la familia vino antes que Dios, en la lista de prioridades esta vez, Dios mismo es un hombre de familia típico y haría lo mismo, él instruye a guardar y ver eso también. A heavy responsibility is to see to and cater for the patients under your care. However, this can only be done according to the best resources available. Butt sadly, less of this can be made available especially to those who can't afford it in the cost.
