HIVE ONBOARDING SHOULDN'T BE THIS HARD

Onboarding has been a bit difficult for me lately. I m quite giving to helping people realize they have a lot more opportunities on the internet than just wasting there content on useless sites. Plus they get to meet real people with real life experience and not the fake life people show on IG.

For me it is quite important that I tell a lot of people about hive. I get to meet them everyday in the hospital, in schools and even in church, Heck I even told my pastor about Creating a Hive account.

But I feel a lot of drawbacks, I am not sure if I am the only one, I saw a video by @ryzeonline where he made a promotion of hive and really said something like people on hive don’t want to tell you this. It was an honest one. Here is the post

To some extent I didn’t want to sound stupid if after saying so much about hive and they are about to register it will literally take days of trying and getting this message. "Free Ticket has been exhausted".

IMG_20211207_144304_106.jpg

I mean, I have got a good start on hive and I would really love for others to have at least a chance at it, but then where do we start from when this is the first problem we face. This has affected my telling people to onboard, as it stands there are people who already know and are trying to onboard.

I preferred the peakd approach of onboarding because the keys are shown to you as important as that is and you are advised to save it.

Lately, I pitched hive to a friend and he got the free tickets not available jig as we tried other options, ecency app, but the sign up button wasn’t highlighted so he went on to use the web version which got him registered but with no keys.

I m still trying to figure that out while writing this post. I don’t know if that is the way things are now, if anyone can, please tell me how he can get his keys, because I think that should be the first thing to be secured.

I think that if we as hivians can come up with a more simplistic and quiet approach to account creation, our promotion will be made a lot easier. We can practically do an on the go account creation promotion, street campaign and totally shot down the town for hive. It is really my thought.

I hate to see people really perishing for lack of knowledge, and I don’t mean to spite any of the Dapps I have mentioned here, I use them daily and they are great. but really, I feel we need to do better.

I know so much work is being put in place and so much devs are underway. I am also aware of the leomobile which I wished my friend had used.

We are up against WEB2 and we would love a situation where we bring twitter folks over and decamp facebook. But one of their major selling points is easy account creation.

I must appreciate the leomobile team, they aimed at achieving this. But like I said, we can do more.

Another challenge

I believe onboarding is more than just registration, mentoring is also key, and that is so much work.

In the mean time hive is the only web3 community I know and active in, but if more competition show up as @khaleelkazi says in his shows, when he alludes to the rise of web3 and the fall of web2, I m sure they won't make content writing as difficult as we have now.

The whole coding language is a bit complicated for the unlearned in crypto, neither are they programmers. Its cool to know those things but can there be interface that just shows you the finished works like a MS word outlook without all the codes and stuff. Where I can highlight and click a botton and it centralizes.

This will help formatting especially for those who at least know how to format in MSword. I m not sure how all this works but. We need to make Hive more workable for the general populace, and not expect them to learn all these things at a go. People have not realize social media that much. Rather then we leaving them to keep getting used by other social sites out there. Its better we stoop to their level to conquer.

I plead that we should make hive easier for onboarding, mentoring and passing on the ethics off the community.

I learnt a lot from this Post by @ryzeonline and there is a part 2 also following it.

But the first time I sent than post to someone to really understand hive, it took him a week to get back to me, telling me it was too long. I immediately knew this person wasn't serious about hive and moved on, but on a rethink, what if things were much simpler, what if he could grasp it easily.

At this point we are talking of teaching kids crypto and showing them how to play to earn. That would be a great start of super rich kids in te nearest future. I hope things really get simpler and easier in the closest possible time.

Thanks so much for reading.

I believe strongly in the future of hive. I see it affecting lives in ripples and really helping many achieve their purpose but socially and physically. I m contributing my own quota to this grow and would go the length to see a better hive by 2022.
Hive is great, but very few people, globally-speaking, know it even exists.

Update: so my friend eventually got his keys via a link sent to him as an email, to go to where his keys are and save them.

Could this be a more secure approach, I m not sure tho, but if it keeps the key safe and secured, why not.

I agree with your sentiments here... I tried to onboard a friend recently and we ran into this same issue. I guided her through Ecency instead, but it made my referral link kind of stupid.

The whole process should be much simpler. I hope you get some feedback with this.

I really hope so too.
Something needs to be done.

And yeah thats true. The referral didnt work.

He may have used my name as referral on ecency, but I even know how to follow him up for delegation.

Any help will be welcomed.

Thanks so much for your comment.

When you refer someone, normally I think you would become their beneficiary until they remove you. So you can ask your friend to add you temporarily... but it was more the referral stat I was looking for.

Oh cool..
Not really after the beneficiary thingy but that a cool way to go.

Thanks

I was about to tell you to check email, but it seems you've gotten it.

Also, I feel the same way. At times it seems as though it's difficult for people who have been used to having things the easy way on web2 to all of a sudden adapt to web 3. But then, I say to myself

if I did it, so can they

Great post and I agree totally.

I made the Hive Best-Kept Secret Promo Video with one main purpose in mind, to direct 'fresh' traffic towards hive.blog's official landing-page. Unfortunately, that page is pretty bad as far as onboarding-experiences go, so it's up to whoever maintains it to improve it.

I made my Complete Beginner's Guide To Joining Hive guide with one main purpose in mind, to make onboarding easier and friendlier. Unfortunately, Hive's onboarding process is so complex, that even after weeks of work, I still couldn't make onboarding simple enough. This means it's up to hive's coders to improve the situation.

Will people actually make it easier? I don't know, but thanks for raising awareness about the issue. 🙏

I really appreciate the effort put into that video and the work done on the newbie guide.

I took time ti read it and it aided my understanding of the system a lot more.

I still steal a look at it when something is not clear enough.

I wished it can be send to every newbie page.. I want to attempt referring people to it from their intro post but felt might be termed spamming, I abit careful too.

I really hope devs are ongoing. It really doesn't have to be this difficulty.. Even to format a post.

Thanks so much for your comment Chief.

My pleasure, I'm glad you enjoyed it. And I totally agree, it'd be smart for hive to use the materials I've created and offered freely to help newbies. I guess we'll see what the devs do ;) Thank you as well! 🙏

Agree
I onboard, it’s challenging..
But it’s much easier now, then it was..
There are more options now
And with a mentor helping during the signup, it’s doable.
Sounds like a problem, and .. an opportunity.
