The idea that at this stage of life advancement, We humans are still at war against malaria causing insect called Mosquitoes is somewhat very challenging to understand.

How can we be in an AI driven world and some part of the world are still struggling with malaria.

How ever the case the question remains, How do we eradicate malaria?

Many attempts are being considered currently, recently I heard about the malaria vaccine in some countries. However, the big pharmas may not want this to happen in some parts of West Africa especially Nigeria. Products like malaria drugs, tablets, injection, malaria vector repellants, nets and many more will go extinct and that is a big loss for them. Hence they may not smile and watch this happen. However this is at the expense of lives of kids, babies and even of adults.
That's how much we have been sold by the very same people we gave our votes.

It doesn't cost a thing to begin this vaccination for children for at least a promissory life long protection from the dreaded disease.

As we approach 2030, there are fears if malaria is not eradicated, it might become drug resistant with the way the drugs are being abused.

Now one of the ways of taking up preventive measures is the use of spray repellants. They work in amazing ways to either cause a nervous block for the mosquitoes or alter their nervous systems entirely. Two common compounds used in making them include pyrethroids and organophosphates.

Pyrethroids, a class of synthetic insecticides derived from natural compounds found in chrysanthemum flowers, works by targeting the nervous system of mosquitoes, disrupt the normal function of nerves, leading to paralysis and eventually death in mosquitoes. They are highly effective against mosquitoes and other insects, and they are commonly used in mosquito control programs worldwide.

Organophosphate insecticides work by inhibiting the activity of an enzyme called acetylcholinesterase (AChE) in mosquitoes which also helps nerve impulses. By inhibiting AChE, it causes an accumulation at nerve endings. This results in paralysis and eventual death of the mosquito. They are potent insecticides but can also be toxic to humans and other non-target organisms, hence they must be used with caution and according to safety guidelines.

Added to these are other forms of barrier methods like good doors, nets, treated nets.

A love story in all of this.

Well, we all know that past of this whole story is where the mosquitoes come to sing to our ears even while we are asleep.
Well, it's quite a funny story, the thing is, not all mosquitoes sing.
It has to be a male mosquito, trying to impress a female by making that sound while flapping it's wings. Sadly too, not all males can do it so those who can't just accept their fate. While the fortunate ones are never shy to shoot their shot.

You musical ears are for them to sing to, the aim of them coming to our ear is to cause you to change your position and perhaps expose your skin to their female targets to bite.

You know how you promise a lady you ll move mountains for them, that's what they do when you raise you hands to blow them away, alas, you just fulfilled their only wish. Think of it, other wise, why will they be singing to you? Hehe.

Now the female mosquitoes also needs your blood meal to be able to lay eggs, hence this combined desire to mate and reproduce is what meets you at your resting place. So next time you have malaria, just know it was for love. That was on a lighter note. Please fight against malaria every way you can. Remember, prevention is better than cure. And when you treat, treat well by seeing a Doctor and using your medications properly. I ll find another opportunity to talk about proper usage of medication but for now.

I hope you now have an idea how better to deal with the mosquitoes. Sometimes to catch a thief, you may have to think like a thief. Same way to handle some problems, understand the problem like its you.

Peace.

Citronella is used in mosquito repellent in the US. It is also used in outdoor candles. I was surprised to find out that eucalyptus and lavender can also repel them

Yes there are various local plants that have been used especially in rural places . Especially when burnt. But that is only effective on none windy night. The fact that those plants are out in the open, reduces the effect.

Some also invented a cream, but it really doesn't show any significant help.

Seriously, am looking forward to the time I will stop buying malaria drugs. Imagine treating malaria and in less than a week the signs still persists just to be told by the lab scientist that I need to go through emel injection, I ran ooo.

Malaria is a serious problem we face on a daily basis in my country and having those natural substance within the environment will help a lot. I enjoyed reading your post as it is informative

Thanks for your comment.
I understand you point.
Well, hopefully the case is not just that the natural repellants are just not good stuff for the Mosquitoes.

When it comes to treatment, even though prevention is better. Correct treatment is also important. I ll find time to touch on that soon.
