         Allá en la lejanía de la sabana africana se puede ver una manada de elefantes custodiada por un grupo armado de guardabosques, esto se debe a la matanza indiscriminada que se ha producido en las últimas semanas por parte de los cazadores furtivos en la reserva de fauna salvaje de Nimawe. John Dory, un conservacionista estadounidense que se encarga de luchar contra el comercio ilegal de marfil desde que llegó a África, investiga la proliferación de mafias que operan en ese territorio y que matan sin piedad a estos nobles gigantes, para convertir sus colmillos en medicinas o afrodisíacos que se venden en el mercado negro de Asia a precios exsorbitantes. La lucha es agotadora y peligrosa, pero para Dory es absolutamente necesaria.

         En su viaje como científico defensor de la vida silvestre, ha establecido vínculos con varios de los paquidermos. Aunque sin duda hay una manada liderada por Viry, una matriarca de 50 años, con la que su afecto es mucho más fuerte que con cualquier otro animal. Su gran inteligencia para esquivar a los cazadores la ha llevado a ser famosa en la región, pero también a ser el objetivo favorito para convertirse en trofeo de estos asesinos. Precisamente a ellos era a los que el científico trataba de proteger ese día, colocando collares localizadores para seguir sus movimientos y así actuar contra las amenazas en tiempo real, la información que manejaban era que los cazadores furtivos iban tras la familia de Viry.

         Esa noche John no pudo dormir, presentía que algo malo iba a suceder, se sentía impotente por no tener las fuerzas suficientes para acabar con todo. Fue entonces cuando la persona encargada de monitorear a los animales dio la alerta, una que él nunca hubiera querido escuchar. Su corazón palpitaba de preocupación al imaginar un desenlace fatal contra Viry, sabía perfectamente que la matriarca iba a defender a los suyos sin importarle su propia seguridad. Se levantó de inmediato y corrió rápidamente hacia el vehículo dispuesto a luchar a muerte contra los malditos cazadores si era necesario. Al llegar al punto exacto indicado por el localizador, comenzaron a disparar contra ellos, los que fueron respondidos con precisión por los guardaparques, logrando alejar a los furtivos del lugar.

         There in the distance of the African savannah you can see a herd of elephants guarded by an armed group of rangers, this is due to the indiscriminate killing that has occurred in recent weeks by poachers in the wildlife reserve of Nimawe. John Dory, an American conservationist who has been in charge of fighting the illegal ivory trade since he arrived in Africa, investigates the proliferation of mafias that operate in that territory and mercilessly kill these noble giants, to turn their tusks into medicines or aphrodisiacs that are sold on the black market in Asia at exorbitant prices. The fight is exhausting and dangerous, but for Dory it is absolutely necessary.

         On her journey as a wildlife scientist, she has bonded with several of the pachyderms. Though there is certainly one herd led by Viry, a 50-year-old matriarch, with whom his affection is much stronger than with any other animal. Her great intelligence to dodge the hunters has made her famous in the region, but also to be the favorite target to become a trophy of these killers. It was precisely them that the scientist was trying to protect that day, placing locator collars to track their movements and thus act against threats in real time, the information they handled was that poachers were after Viry's family.

         That night John could not sleep, he had a feeling that something bad was going to happen, he felt helpless for not having enough strength to put an end to everything. It was then that the person in charge of monitoring the animals gave the alert, one that he would never have wanted to hear. His heart was pounding with worry as he imagined a fatal outcome against Viry, he knew perfectly well that the matriarch was going to defend her own regardless of her own safety. He got up immediately and ran quickly to the vehicle ready to fight to the death against the damned hunters if necessary.
