[Week 122] No devices

Greetings to everyone who reads these lines in this Community Weekend Experiences in Hive. This was the question I chose for the Weekend-Engagement concept.

The no-device weekend

You have no computer, mobile phone or gaming console for the entire weekend. Write at least 350 words about how you feel and why and how you handle having no devices to occupy yourself with.

When I read this question my first impression was to answer that it would drive me completely crazy not to have any technological device around for a whole weekend, as it would be very boring for me not to enjoy a conversation with friends via WhatsApp or watch a movie via streaming. But then I reconsidered and came to the conclusion that it wouldn't be so bad to take a break from electronic devices even if it was for a few days. I would take it in a positive way and dedicate myself to activities that would distract me, obviously I have my favorites which are:

Gardening

For my close circle it is no secret that I love plants and whenever I need peace to get away from everything bad that causes me frustration, they are my salvation from those bad days. After a tiring week at work I dedicate myself to them for a few hours, pulling weeds, pests, watering and fertilizing.
As you can read it is perfect for a weekend away from the technological routine because the succulents I grow need different care, it is not the same to grow a Crassula Ovata than an Echeveria Laui, so I need quite a few hours on this.

Knitting Amigurumis

Another of my passions is knitting Amigurumis, I can spend hours creating pieces and then join them together and turn them into a super cute wool doll.
Basically they represent a friend for whoever owns it, making it a faithful companion for the whole life of its owner, providing protection and comfort in times of stress and sadness.
So this would also serve me well to emerge victorious in this supposedly gadget-free weekend and not lose my sanity in the attempt, 😁.

It is said that nowadays we have too much dependence on technology, which leads us to forget to enjoy other activities in our free time, there are even studies that say that the new generations have a lower IQ than their ancestors for having everything so immediately, leaving aside thinking and creating by their own hand.
I guess this has some reality because every time I need to know something I Google it and that's it, I don't go deeper into the matter or look for options to discard until I get to the answer, I find it easier to google 🤷🏻.

I have come to the conclusion that I would take it well, I enjoy knitting and planting succulents, they are pleasurable activities, plus I think it is good for the soul, body and mind as well to let go of that invasive technology from time to time.

It's definitely good to get into nature, and be creative :) ... You can do that any time you want, no need to wait for it to be enforced 🙌
