Being a first time mom, I often compare my son to others before. I felt happy when he is ahead than them but felt so sad too when he is below or late than them. His cousin who is a three months younger than him learn to walk when she was eleven months while my son learn to walk when he was one year old and two months making them walk at the same time.

My son got his first teeth when he was six months old and other kids have their first teeth at eight months old.

As of now my son is four years old and nine months. He is done with Kinder one or day care last school year and planned to enroll him in Kinder II for this school year but his age or his birth date is not qualified for Kinder II. The birthdate who is qualified for Kinder II here is November 2016-October 2017 and my son's birthday is November 13. So, I have no choice but to enroll him again in Kinder I.

He already knows how to write and identify small and big letters of the alphabet. He also knows how to write and identify numbers one to ten. He can identify colors and shapes too but he cannot read. I am trying to teach him how to read but his interest have a very low time span though he already knows the sounds. I felt worried because he can't read in his age while other can already read a story. I begun to ask myself if I lack enough time to teach my son until a minister's wife visited our church and gave stories for the children. She called my attention and told me that my son is so attentive, he is listening well and knows how to answer simple question from the story. She also told me that my son have enough confident to lead a prayer for the kids with the guidance of an elder. I felt happy hearing it and also congratulate her for her son already knows how to read short stories. She then told me that his son already knows how to read but do not know yet how to write. They are in opposite because my son already knows how to write but don't know how to read.

As of now, my son's interest are more focused in drawing. I allow him to do what he want and I don't force him to read for now because for sure time will come that he will be interested in reading. Sometimes I cannot understand his drawings so I will ask him about it and then he will explain it to me.

I would like to share some of his simple drawings and the story or explanation about it.

I saw this drawing in my cellphone and I find it very simple yet have a great meaning. He said that it was our family (his father, me and him - the baby) in our small simple house. He always draw like this portraying a complete family.

He draws this in a flywood that we used to cover our window. This one, for sure you find it weird right? Me too is wondering why he draws a tree with two kinds of fruit (banana and apple). When I asked him about it he told me that it was a tree that will bear a lot of fruits. Then I remembered that I told him a Bible story about a tree that bears twelve different fruits. Have you heard about it already? If not yet, I want to share this Bible text with you found in Revelation 22:2.

In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Isn't it exciting to be in heaven and found this very unique tree that bears twelve fruits? We hope to be there when Jesus comes and eat those fruits.

This one is more complicated but he explained it well to me. That two in red color is a boat where the disciples of Jesus rode. They saw a man walking in the sea (which is Jesus) and they felt so afraid because they taught it was a ghost and that one pushing his hand to say, stop, stay away from us. Later on, they found out it was Jesus.

About the moon and the sun, he also explains that sometimes the moon is still visible even the sun is already shining.

Kids are unique. Even twins have different finger prints, they have different attitude, different skills, different talent, and even different faces. Kids also have different development. A child who born in the same day or the same month will have different development. One can talk first, while others can walk first. One is thin and others is chubby. One is tall and others is petite. One can write first while others can read first.

Kids are unique and we should not compare them to anyone.

Thank you so much for reading.

Every kid is different and special in their own way, it's natural to compare a kid's growth with that of others but with time one realises it isn’t needed. Your kid is special, drawing this things at such a tender age says a lot.

What a nice post, I understand your concern as a mother but in the end you yourself bring out the best of the reflections, children are unique and have their own time of learning and development.

I didn't know that part of the bible about the 12 fruit tree, it is very interesting, thank you for sharing your family life and teaching us things from the holy scriptures. @jenthoughts 😘
