Second time in the barber shop

A barber should make themselves a model that a hair should be cut to look neat and tidy.

Barber is a person whose job is to cut hair and/or shave beards. Are you a barber?

I'm not used to visit barber shop since I was young. My younger brothers were not able to have their hair cut in the barber shop because our mother is a barber. She is not that good but she knows the basic. She only have courage to cut the hair of my younger brothers but she would say no to others who wants to have their hair cut by her. She is not yet that confident to do a hair cut services to others.

My younger brothers have their hair cut every month just in our little home by our mother. I noticed that by doing so, we were able to save. I don't know how much the service fee for cutting the hair back then.

Since it is good to have that skill, I plead my mother to teach me to do so. She instructed me the steps and I thought it is as easy as one, two, three but I was wrong.

I tried to cut the hair of our youngest and I started to cut the hair near his ears. As I am cutting it, I felt that there is something hard but I still continue cutting it out until my brother shouted "ouch" only to find out that I cut a little part of his ear. When we remember it, we were just laughing but in that very moment, I felt so worried, shy and above all afraid that my mother will spank me.

That incident leaves a mark in my younger brother's ear. Starting that moment, I never ever tried to learn to cut hair again.

When I got married and had a son, hair cut should have a part in the budget because men usually have a hair cut done every month. How I wish I know how to do it so my husband and my son won't need to go to the barber shop.

Fortunately my husband can be called a barber because he also knows the basic of cutting men's hair.

When my son turns one, we let him have the first hair cut at the barber shop. I am amazed as our son behaves well and never cried unlike other kids. His next and following hair cut was done by his father and he was used to it.

But last time, my son complain and he is crying while saying it's hurt. My husband wonder why and then he finds out that our clipper is not working well. It will clip the hair instead of cutting it that's why my son is complaining.

We then decided to go to a barber shop. At first he didn't agree, I don't know why he have some fear in the barber shop. I tried to inform him that he was there when he is just one year old. We really find ways to convince him to have his hair cut at the barber shop. He always insist that he will have his hair cut by his father.

At last he agreed and we went to the barber shop. The shop is full and every barber has a customer. We just sit outside waiting for some people to go out. While waiting, I noticed that new customers will go inside directly. I don't have an idea what's the rule in there because it is my first time to accompany my son alone.

Time passed and my husband came and asked me why we are still outside and asked me if I already informed the barber? I told him no. Oh no! he said. I told you to look for that big guy. I said, yes, I found him but I don't know what to do next.

He then went inside and talk to the barber. He then told me that we will be the fourth customer. I then understand that we need to inform the barber so we would be in line.

We then went inside after finding a vacant seat and took some picture.

His hair is so long and really need a hair cut. Here he is before the hair cut, smiling at you.

When it is his turn, he said he won't have hair cut. Again, we convince him to do so and good thing the barbers help us to encourage him. One barber said, "go and have hair cut so you would be handsome after". Fortunately he agreed and seat in the chair.

The barber carefully do the hair cut and he's glad that my son behaves well. He hadn't find it hard because my son cooperates.

He is so quiet and never open his mouth to say any word. Might be he is afraid or just felt shy to talk to the barber who is a stranger for him.

I tried to ask him if he is okay and he just answered me by letting his eyebrow up and it means yes.

He never talk until it was done. Finally he open his mouth and say thank you to the barber. As a reward, the barber gave him lollipop that made him happy. (Supposed to be I don't allowed him to eat candies like lollipops but that day is one of his cheat day since it was given to him by the barber).

Now he looks neat and tidy with his short hair and was able to show us his wonderful smile. A smile that seems says thank you mama for this experience, thank you uncle barber for the nice hair cut and lollipop.

I was shock because even hair cutting service fee grows high. Last time we only pay 50.00 ($1) but now it's already 60.00 ($1.2).

Barbers look neat and tidy too as their hair is short. Thanks to the friendly barbers who knows how to works well with the moody kids.
