July 18, 2021--Arabesque from 24 pieces en style libre, Op. 31 (no. 15) by Louis Vierne

Today, I recorded a piece I have played for a while now--Louis Vierne's Arabesque from his 24 pieces in free style (Op. 31). I think it is a haunting piece. It begins quietly with a meandering melody that progressively gets wider and wider over a series of sustained chords. A contrasting middle section becomes more chordal and chromatic before the main melodic material returns in a solo flute stop, varied even more in it's return.
