November 29, 2021--Prelude on Veni, Emannuel by Robert Powell

A treat: A wonderful postlude piece based on the tune "O Come, O Come Emannuel"! This wonderful prelude sets fragments of the hymn tune judiciously throughout the piece in a variety of different parts of the texture. It is accompanied by rising and descending flashes of 8th notes and fanfare like moments. Half-way through it even tries to begin a fugato based on part of the accompaniment before the main hymn tune comes back in. The registration is a full principal chorus with mixture and flutes 8' and 4' on the manuals with principal chorus and flutes on the pedals, great coupled to the pedals. I hope you will enjoy it.
