Being responsible for you actions is not enough - My 5 minutes a day #38
Own It and Fix It

Good evening, night, morning or time of the day. Yesterday I couldn't post because I was focused on a University Task. However, today I plan to make up for the lost day and post two Freewrites.
That being said, Let's begin with today's topic.
That's a word that everyone hears and thinks they know the meaning of. If we look at the Google definition:
The state or fact of having a duty to deal with something or of having control over it.
The key word here is duty. You have a duty to deal with something, whether It is a bad decision, an injury or the reaction to the consequences of your actions, which were in your control.
But, being responsible for something bad that happened to you is not enough. When you're responsible, you merely accept the situation, but you might never act upon It. If you fail a test because you didn't study enough, you can say: "I accept It, I have failed", but will you do something about It and study for the next test?
That's where accountability comes in. You see, accountability is the action of responding and justifying your actions and decisions. So, when you screw things up, you use accountability to fix them and/or learn to act better the next time.
Everyone can be responsible, however, not many are accountable. And that's exactly what you should strive for: Being an accountable person.
So, next time something happens to you, recognize It, be responsible and take the best decision by being accountable.
