I welcome you all to another week in the Hive open mic community where artists around the blockchain express themselves through music.

For this week's live event, we were asked to explore the theme 'A Good Friend' and it was chosen by a good friend of mine in the blockchain who never gets tired of calling me church girl…I don't know why he says that hehe.

And, he is also the community's recent spotlight artist, he is no other than Victor, AKA @jesus-son. Congratulations on being the spotlight artist.

I have gone through the post of some people here and must say that their interpretation of the theme is valid.

Also, I don't think anyone doesn't know the definition of a good friend. Are you a good friend? However, it is not always easy to be a good friend, and it takes effort and dedication to maintain a strong and meaningful relationship.

I was listening to a story from a friend a few days ago, he narrated that he has been friends with a particular guy since they were younger, they even attended the same school.

However, they are grown now and have their responsibilities in life. As the story goes, the guy lost his job and was left stranded for months without work. In a bid to help the friend out of unemployment, he introduced the friend to the job he does.

Not too long after, he learned and was able to do the job on his own without supervision.

Things took a turn for the worse when that friend started acting weird. At their workshop, whenever a customer looks for him, that friend would lie to the customer saying he isn't around. He did this so he could have the job.

When he found out about this, he felt hurt and betrayed. The friend he introduced to work tried to outsmart him by taking away his customers.

Anyone would feel hurt if such happened to them. The friend repaid him by stabbing him continuously in the back.

I see that as greed. A good friend should not be greedy, and a true friend would never hurt you intentionally.

In the story above, that friend was greedy and hurt his friend who helped him.

There's a gospel song I know that says 'A Heart Like Yours Is My Desire'.

The song is about our one true and good friend Jesus Christ. He has already set an example of how a good friend should be. Jesus shows unconditional love and mercy and is always ready to forgive. His unconditional love for us is an example of the kind of friends we should strive to be. He is the perfect example of what it means to be a good friend and his love is a model for us to follow.

A good friend loves unconditionally and always wants the best for you. A good friend will never hurt you intentionally.
