At first, it seems like it's going to be just the typical cliché after cliché, but no, it turns out it's something else entirely... and be careful here, the animation may not be the most top-notch, sometimes even a bit simple I would say, but the story...

The story has a depth that makes it shine... but let's take it one step at a time, the anime focuses on Saki and Yuta, two characters who, at first glance, yes, fall into the mold of a step-sibling romance. I'm not going to lie, when I read what it was about, I almost told it to go to hell... but as things progress, you realize that this isn't your typical easy, boring romance. What really makes the difference here is how Saki and Yuta interact, instead of jumping headfirst into exaggerated drama, the anime takes its time to build their relationship. Their feelings evolve in a super natural way, and what stands out the most is the respect they have for each other. I ended up identifying a lot with Saki's internal dilemma. Her story isn't just about falling in love with Yuta, but about finding herself, knowing who she is. Yuta isn't your typical cardboard cutout protagonist who's just there for show. It's rare to find characters so well crafted, where even the awkward silences tell you something. It's not a romance forced on to fulfill a stereotype or some fetish; It's a story about two people who are really getting to know each other.

Hola a todos, amigos otakus, gran comunidad de The Anime Realm, espero que estén genial.. en esta ocasión quiero compartir mi reseña con una opinión totalmente honesta de un anime bastante curioso.. hoy les hablaré de: Days with My Stepsister.. para serles bien honesto, al principio estaba súper escéptico.. sea, a ver, ¿romance entre hermanastros? suena re-cliché, super predecible, pensé que solo sería una excusa para ponerlos en situaciones eróticas, como los miles de animes con esta premisa.. pero nada de eso, qué sorpresa me llevé! Al principio, pinta para ser el típico cliché tras cliché, pero no señores, resulta que es otra cosa totalmente.. y ojo aquí, que la animación tal vez no es la más top, a veces hasta medio simplona diría yo, pero la historia..

La historia tiene una profundidad que la hace brillar.. pero vamos por partes, el anime se centra en Saki y Yuta, dos personajes que, a primera vista, sí, caen en el molde del romance de hermanastros, no les voy a mentir, cuando leí de qué iba, casi lo mando al carajo de una.. pero a medida que avanza la cosa, te das cuenta de que esto no es el típico romance facil y aburrido. Lo que de verdad marca la diferencia aquí es cómo interactúan Saki y Yuta, en lugar de tirarse de cabeza al drama exagerado, el anime se toma su tiempo para construir la relación.. sus sentimientos van evolucionando de una manera súper natural, y lo que más destaca es el respeto que se tienen, se nota que se preocupan por los límites del otro, y eso hace que cada momento juntos se sienta real, como que te lo crees.

Yo, personalmente, me terminé identificando un montón con el dilema interno de Saki.. su historia no es solo de enamorarse de Yuta, sino de encontrarse a sí misma, de saber quién es, Yuta no es el típico prota ahí, de cartón piedra, que solo está para adornar.. él también tiene su profundidad, sus cosas emocionales, y su apoyo sutil ayuda a Saki a abrirse de una forma que se siente genuina y conmovedora. Es raro encontrar personajes tan bien hechos, donde hasta los silencios incómodos te dicen algo, no es un romance metido a la fuerza para cumplir con un estereotipo o con algún fetiche; es una historia sobre dos personas que de verdad se están conociendo..

One thing that blew my mind about this anime is how they told the story, it’s not like they show it to you from just one side, you know? But each episode jumps between what Saki thinks and what Yuta thinks... this little game gives an incredible depth to everything, because you get into each person’s head and see how they feel things, there are particular chapters where they repeat scenes from Saki’s perspective, but they put a filter on it like a blurry memory... that little detail, ugh, I swear, I thought it was brilliant... it’s like the anime was telling you “hey, memories aren’t perfect photos, they’re all tainted by our emotions.” And think about it, who hasn’t experienced something like this in real life? Now, I have to talk about the direction... let’s see, the animation isn’t that great, honestly, sometimes it even looks kind of basic and poor, but the director... wow, this guy works magic.

It extracts gold from where there is none and turns limitations into opportunities to tell you the story in a unique way, for example, instead of just shoving in summaries of previous episodes like that, as if it were no big deal, it weaves them into the story so well that they even add to the overall vibe of the series. I was blown away by how each scene seemed to be crafted with a love and sincerity that you don't always see... it's like watching a painter who, with four colors, paints a picture that leaves you thinking, and speaking of well-directed moments, there's a scene where Saki's memories look like they're in a dream, all weird. I don't want to spoil it, but the way they mix her past with her present, all nostalgic and almost poetic, gives the story an emotional weight that touches your soul... this anime isn't just a romance, it's also a story about growing up, about learning to deal with what happened to you while trying to figure out what's going on with the future... that idea, people, touched my heart.

Una cosa que me voló la cabeza de este anime es cómo contaron la historia, no es que te lo muestran desde un solo lado, ¿entienden? Sino que cada episodio salta entre lo que piensa Saki y lo que piensa Yuta.. este jueguito le da una profundidad increíble a todo, porque te metes en la cabeza de cada uno y ves cómo sienten las cosas, hay capítulos en particular, donde repiten escenas desde la perspectiva de Saki, pero le meten un filtro como de recuerdo borroso.. ese detallito, uf, se los juro, me pareció una genialidad.. es como si el anime te dijera "ey, los recuerdos no son fotos perfectas, están todos manchados por nuestras emociones". Y piénsenlo, ¿a quién no le ha pasado algo así en la vida real? ahora, tengo que hablarles de la dirección.. a ver, la animación no es que sea la octava maravilla, la verdad, a veces se ve hasta medio básica y pobre, pero el director... wow, este tipo hace magia.

Saca oro de donde no hay y convierte las limitaciones en oportunidades para contarte la historia de una manera única, por ejemplo, en vez de meterte resúmenes de capítulos anteriores así nomás, como quien no quiere la cosa, los mete tan bien en la historia que hasta le suman onda al ambiente general de la serie. Me quedé loco viendo cómo cada escena parecía hecha con un cariño y una sinceridad que no se ven siempre.. es como ver a un pintor que, con cuatro colores, te pinta un cuadro que te deja pensando, y hablando de momentos bien dirigidos, hay una escena donde los recuerdos de Saki se ven como si fueran un sueño, así todo raro. No les quiero spoilear, pero la forma en que mezclan su pasado con su presente, todo nostálgico y casi poético, le da un peso emocional a la historia que te llega al alma.. este anime no es solo un romance, también es una historia de cómo crecer, de aprender a lidiar con lo que te pasó mientras intentas ver qué onda con el futuro.. esa idea, gente, me llegó directo al corazón.

I'll be honest with you: I had very low expectations before starting this anime. I thought it was going to be just another run-of-the-mill one, with a mediocre story and crappy animation. But the more I watched the episodes, the more I realized there was something special here, something different... there's a beauty in simplicity, you know?

The animation, minimalist as it is, which at first seemed like a letdown, actually helps you focus on what really matters: the characters, the dialogue, how the story is told. There were moments where I got truly moved, people... not by super dramatic scenes or grandiloquent declarations, but by small but meaningful interactions, small words... there's one episode in particular where the tension between Saki and Yuta is felt just by their looks and gestures, and that seemed more powerful to me than any love confession shouted from the rooftops. It's those subtle details that make the story feel so real, so close. And although the animation isn't the most impressive, the music and sound lift every scene. There's a theme song that plays constantly during the most emotional moments, and it really captures you with the bittersweet vibe of growing up and leaving things behind... after finishing the series, I realized I was humming it, which says a lot about the impact it had.

Otra cosa que me gustó fue el mensaje sobre la familia, la serie te pone a pensar, ¿qué onda realmente con la familia? Saki y Yuta no son de sangre, pero la conexión que arman durante toda la serie es tan fuerte, que te deja pensando: a ver, ¿qué define a una familia de verdad? ¿Es solo el ADN o es más bien el cariño, el respeto, el tiempo que pasas con alguien? En estos tiempos donde las familias ya no son tanto como antes, este anime te recuerda que lo más importante no es de dónde vienes, sino la gente que te apoya y te acompaña en el camino, voy a ser sincero con ustedes: yo iba con las expectativas por el subsuelo antes de empezar este anime, pensé que iba a ser uno más del montón, con una historia ahí nomás y una animación media chafa. Pero mientras más veía los episodios, más me daba cuenta de que había algo especial aquí, algo distinto.. hay una belleza en lo simple, ¿saben?

La animación así, minimalista, que al principio parecía como un bajón, en realidad ayuda a que te centres en lo que importa de verdad: los personajes, los diálogos, cómo te cuentan la historia, hubo momentos en los que me emocioné de verdad, gente.. no por escenas así súper dramáticas o declaraciones grandilocuentes, sino por interacciones chiquitas, pero llenas de significado, pequeñas palabras.. hay un episodio en particular donde la tensión entre Saki y Yuta se siente solo con las miradas y los gestos, y eso me pareció más potente que cualquier confesión de amor gritada a los cuatro vientos, son esos detalles sutiles los que hacen que la historia se sienta tan real, tan cercana. Y aunque la animación no sea la más impresionante, la música y el sonido levantan cada escena, hay un tema musical que suena a cada rato en los momentos más emotivos, y de verdad que te atrapa la onda agridulce de crecer y dejar cosas atrás.. después de terminar la serie, me di cuenta de que la estaba tarareando, eso dice mucho del impacto que tuvo.

If you are still hesitating and saying "should I watch this anime or not?", my advice is: give it a chance, don't get carried away by the initial idea or by how it looks at first, sometimes the best stories come in the most unexpected packages, just like that, without you expecting it... this anime is proof that how something is told can change everything, seriously... believe me, once you get fully into the story of Saki and Yuta, how they tell the story in such an original way and the direction which is a gem, you won't be able to stop watching it, if I had to give it a grade, I'd give it 8.5/10, it's not perfect, obviously, the animation has its things and some chapters slow down the pace a bit, but what it lacks in technique, it makes up for in heart and creativity, the passion that the director put into it and how the relationship between the protagonists grows so naturally is what makes this series shine with its own light..

Its story is beautiful, it shows you how love can be born where you least expect it, how you can respect boundaries, and how, sometimes, the simplest things in life are the most valuable. So, if you're already bored of samey, cliché-filled romances, give this anime a chance. It's a story that surprises you, that makes you think about love, family, and how we grow as people, in a way that not many anime can. And well, that would be all for today. Si todavía están dudando y diciendo "¿veo o no veo este anime?", mi consejo es: denle una oportunidad, no se dejen llevar por la idea inicial o por cómo se ve al principio, a veces, las mejores historias vienen en los paquetes más inesperados, así, sin que te lo esperes.. este anime es la prueba de que cómo te cuentan algo puede cambiarlo todo, en serio.. créanme, una vez que se metan de lleno en la historia de Saki y Yuta, en cómo te narran la historia de forma tan original y en la dirección que es una joyita, no van a poder parar de verlo, si tuviera que ponerle nota, le doy un 8.5/10, no es perfecto, obvio, la animación tiene sus cositas y algunos capítulos bajan un poco el ritmo, pero lo que le falta en técnica, lo sobra en corazón y creatividad, la pasión que le puso el director y cómo la relación de los protas va creciendo de forma tan natural es lo que hace que esta serie brille con luz propia..

Su historia es una belleza, te muestra cómo el amor puede nacer donde menos te lo esperas, cómo puedes respetar los límites, y cómo, a veces, las cosas más sencillas de la vida son las que más valen. Así que, si ya están aburridos de romances todos iguales y llenos de clichés, denle una oportunidad a este anime, de verdad, es una historia que te sorprende, que te hace pensar sobre el amor, la familia y cómo crecemos como personas, de una manera que no muchos animes logran, y buenos, eso sería todo por hoy, nos veremos en las próximas reseñas!
