👋Saludos, Hivers, yo soy de Venezuela, específicamente de Barquisimeto, Estado Lara, y hoy amanecí con gran sentimiento regionalista, por eso, quiero hablarte un poco de mi tierra desde los aspectos que más le caracterizan, resaltando especialmente su cultura.
La identidad cultural de los pueblos es muy importante ya que no sólo es la que les distingue de los demás sino porque le brinda una caracterización específica que les hace sentirse únicos e irrepetibles con respecto a los demás, así como también lo es cada persona.
Con respecto a la ciudad donde pertenezco, Barquisimeto, no existe excepción. Ella es la cuarta ciudad más poblada de Venezuela y se distingue por sus construcciones modernas. Ahora, te voy a mostrar las características más resaltantes de su cultura para que – como yo – te enamores de ella y, luego de que salgamos de esta pandemia del Covid-19 la vengas a visitar.

With respect to the city where I belong, Barquisimeto, there is no exception. It is the fourth most populated city in Venezuela and is distinguished by its modern buildings. Now, I'm going to show you the most outstanding characteristics of its culture so that - like me - you fall in love with it and, after we get out of this Covid-19 pandemic, you come and visit it.

Si por algo hay que empezar debe ser por aquí, ya que una de las cosas que más distingue a mi hermosa ciudad es ser tierra de músicos, por ejemplo, aquí nació el gran director de orquestas, Gustavo Dudamel. De hecho, una de las instituciones más prestigiosas que existe en la ciudad es el conservatorio de música que va preparando a las futuras generaciones desde su más tierna edad. Es conocida como la capital musical de Venezuela.

Es el baile típico de esta región, muy popular en honor a San Antonio, todos los 13 de Junio. Consta de varias danzas, una vestimenta especial y unos instrumentos para bailarlo, que son unos palos que se van tocando unos a otros al son de la música.

El arte de tejer y de elaborar a mano varias herramientas también es simbólico de nuestra cultura, en especial, de un pueblo muy cercano llamado Tintorero. De hecho, una de las cosas que las turistas buscan llevarse de vuelta con ellos son algunas piezas elaboradas en este lugar.

Procesión de la Divina Pastora
Es una de las manifestaciones marianas más grandes no sólo de Latinoamérica sino a nivel mundial, de hecho, es la procesión más numerosa, ya que la Guadalupe de México atrae más personas pero es una peregrinación.
Se realiza cada 14 de enero y es un recorrido que va desde el pueblo de Santa Rosa hasta la Catedral de la Ciudad, alrededor de 7Km y medio. Las experiencias espirituales son incontables, puedo dar testimonio hasta de personas ateas que han asistido y se han sentido tocadas por su asistencia a esta celebración religiosa.
Procession of the Divine Shepherdess
It is one of the biggest Marian manifestations not only in Latin America but worldwide, in fact, it is the most numerous procession, since the Guadalupe of Mexico attracts more people but it is a pilgrimage.
It takes place every January 14 and is a journey that goes from the town of Santa Rosa to the Cathedral of the City, about 7Km and a half. The spiritual experiences are countless, I can even give testimony of atheist people who have attended and felt touched by their attendance at this religious celebration.

También es muy propio de mi ciudad algunas expresiones verbales que manifiestan asombro, admiración, emoción, alegría, todo según el contexto, entre éstas tenemos: Na’guará, va sie…, adiú, guaro, etc.
Al respecto, puedo contar la experiencia de que cuando uno se traslada a otro estado fácilmente es identificable por su forma de hablar, específicamente, por si se utilizan estas expresiones. Las personas aquí en Venezuela al escucharlas dicen: “Este es guaro”, es decir, es de Barquisimeto, Lara.
Native expressions
It is also very typical of my city some verbal expressions that express astonishment, admiration, emotion, joy, all according to the context, among these we have: Na'guará, va sie..., adiú, guaro, etc.

Entre éstos aunque pueden ser muchos de los que les hable, destacan la hospitalidad, ya que hacen sentir al extranjero como en su casa, y la sociabilidad, de hecho el barquisimetano se caracteriza por sus cuentos, anécdotas e historias.
Gastronomía
Ésta es muy diversa pero en comida es característico el mondongo de Chivo, sobre todo, en uno de sus pueblos cercanos: Pavia y de las bebidas es característica el Cocuy de penca, que es un licor que se extrae de la planta del mismo nombre.

Construcciones emblemáticas
Barquisimeto posee unos símbolos arquitectónicos importantes como: El Obelisco, construido para conmemora los 400 años de la construcción de la ciudad; la flor de Venezuela o de Hannover, ya que representó a nuestro país en la expo mundial realizada en esta ciudad (Alemania) y el Manto de María, monumento que representa la imagen de la Divina pastora y que es una especie de mirador desde el cual se puede apreciar la ciudad de Barquisimeto y sus alrededores.

Otros: Carnavales y feria de Barquisimeto
Hay también otras manifestaciones culturales como los carnavales, en febrero y las ferias en honor al aniversario de la ciudad, en septiembre, que han venido cayendo en calidad, debido a la situación socio-económica del país, ya que por ejemplo para las ferias se traían invitados de gran talla internacional.
