Cada 14 de enero, la ciudad crepuscular de Venezuela, Barquisimeto se viste de gala religiosa con la celebración de la Divina Pastora, nombre que los cristianos católicos le damos a la Virgen María, a quien veneramos como nuestra madre ,y que en nuestra fe también afirmamos es madre de Jesucristo, quien es Dios y Buen Pastor de la humanidad.
Lo particular de esta fecha es que desde el año 1856 hay una imagen de la Divina Pastora que desde el pueblo de Santa Rosa se dirige a visitar la ciudad de Barquisimeto, con este motivo se hace una procesión que va desde el templo del pueblo hasta la catedral de la ciudad. Se trata de una procesión muy concurrida hasta por personas de otras partes del mundo y del mismo país, normalmente congrega cientos de miles y miles de personas.
Es por esta razón que el año pasado y éste el gobierno de la Iglesia decidió que se hiciera de manera diferente. El pasado se le dio el nombre de procesión virtual pero en este fue más bien un recorrido de la imagen no por su ruta tradicional (desde el templo de Santa Rosa hasta la Catedral) sino por prácticamente los 4 puntos cardinales de la ciudad. En efecto, con una duración de 12 horas y media (desde las 9:30 am hasta las 10:00 am) recorrió en una distancia de 108 Km parte del norte, oeste, sur y este de Barquisimeto.

De hecho, ni siquiera se le dio el nombre de procesión sino de recorrido pues en vez de que los devotos fueran a llevar en hombros a su madre fue ésta la que fue recorriendo diversos sectores visitando a sus hijos.
Lo acertada de esta decisión está en que sus hijos la recibieron con un corazón sumamente agradecido y en espíritu de oración, esperando con paciencia su paso, aunque fuera breve ya que para los hijos basta hasta una pequeña caricia o mirada de la madre para sentirse plenamente acompañados y fortalecidos.
Desde un punto de vista de los cuidados sanitarios considero, desde mi punto de vista, que fue una buena decisión ya que luego de un año en el cual no hubo mucha actividad en esta fecha (el 14 de enero de 2021 todo fue virtual) y ante las nuevas variantes del Covid-19 que se están haciendo presente, lo mejor fue repartir a todos los fieles en 108 Km que juntarlos todos en 7,5 Km que comprende el recorrido tradicional.

El espíritu de fe y devoción mariana se sentía en las diversas calles por los que la imagen de la virgen transitó, el sentimiento y afecto se notaba en los rostros de las personas que no les importaba esperar tanto por sólo vivir un pequeño momento del paso de su madre, que aunque es una imagen todos sabemos la fuerza que tienen los símbolos y signos en la cultura humana.
Pero esto no acaba aquí, luego del 14 de enero existía también una visita de la imagen de la Divina Pastora a las distintas parroquias eclesiásticas de la ciudad. Este año por motivos del Covid-19 también se hará de manera diferente y serán las distintas parroquias las que por zonas pastorales y en distintos días irán a visitar a la imagen de la venerada y querida "Divina Pastora" que en estos momentos reposa en la iglesia Catedral.
