Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle BATTLE MAGE SECRETS! Broken Arrows

avatar

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a rule set using a specific card and on this week's post it is a battle with the Broken Arrows rule set. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is taking sides and broken arrow. This means that no neutral or ranged monsters can be used in this fight. There is also 50 mana available and I am left with the choice of fire or death splinter.

summoner.png
The summoner I choose to use this time is Thaddius Brood. In a match like this, I think that the minus one health will make my opponent easier to kill and the minus one magic will help me against magic damage.

Thaddius Brood4Summoner-1 magic and health

The Gorlodon92ndReach and backup tank
Djinn Muirat93rdVoid Armor

Venari Bonesmith45thPoison and Life leech
Dark Ha'on106thTaunt
Total Mana:49

My plan is just to have a lineup using a thorns monster up front with a taunt monster in the back to attract the other damage. I have a bunch of magic damage and also amplify to increase the thorns damage.

Round 1

At the first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think I have the stronger lineup due to the level difference and I also have a taunt monster. My first monster should also do more damage against his melee monsters due to the amplify. So I am not as worried about my opponent's damage due to all my magic monsters.

Round 2

round 2.png
I took out his Living Lava and I didn't take much damage either. Dark Ha'on is doing a great job of taking the hits and I will be able to take out my opponent's monsters because they are not as tanky.

Round 3

round 3.png
I lost my thorns tank but the rest of my lineup is still strong. There is no problems taking out my opponent and I see no chance of losing.

I didn't miss any attacks and I was able to take out my opponent. With this, the match is over.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. The lineup I went for had a was able to soak up most of my opponent's damage and the thorns worked out well with amplify. With this, I won the match with a lot of room left over. The -1 health and magic from my summoner did help to make my opponent's cards more squishy. On the other hand, I think my opponent had a fairly decent lineup but it couldn't do anything against my taunt monster and thorns. This allowed me to make quick work of his melee monsters which did not have much health. They were level 1 cards so I definitely had an advantage on that end.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
