Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle! ELVEN CUTTHROAT

avatar

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card and on this week's post it is the Elven Cutthroat card. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Featured Monster: Elven Cutthroat

Elven Cutthroat is a neutral splinter card. It has sneak ability from the start and learns no other ability. With it's fast speed but low health, its a great card to place in your backline because it can attack from anywhere.

I don't own this card but this card is part of the starter pack so everyone gets a copy of this card to play around with. Since it only has 1 health and 1 attack, I find that I don't use this card very often since it isn't leveled up. However if I did have one leveled up, I would use it because of it's high speed.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

rule set.png

The rule set this time is broken arrows so no ranged monsters. There is 24 mana available and I can use all splinters except fire. This means I can mix and match either melee or magic for my team.

summoner.png

The summoner I choose to use this time is Daria Dragonscale and I will focus on a full physical setup. I know this is dangerous but I am betting on not seeing Mylor as my opponent's summoner since thorns would kill me. With Daria, I can set up for a decently fast and decent damage team without much issues. As we only have 24 mana available, I plan on putting the creeping ooze to lower my opponent's speed as well. I think earth is a great choice since Unicorn Mustang has void magic incase my opponent brings a magic build.

Round 1

I increased my speed with brownie and decreased my opponent's speed with creeping ooze. It does look like my opponent was betting on me using a magic build. At least I think this match will go well for me given my speed setup.

Round 2

round 2.png

The high speed is definitely paying off since my opponent missed two of his physical attacks. I did lose brownie though and I have to do a few more hits than normal to take out his cards due to the Venari Wavesmith giving him some extra armor. I didn't lose any attackers so I am off to a great start.

Round 3

round 3.png

I managed to take out his tank because my cards are faster than his. While I did take a little bit of damage, it is isn't enough to change anything and I think the chances of my opponent coming back is very slim.

Round 4

round 4.png

Now that my opponent reduced to having his mage in the front-line, it is my win. He can't deal any damage to me and I only require one or two hits to completely finish off my opponent. I won't put a picture of my win since it's pretty much guaranteed even if the match went into fatigue.

Conclusion

The battle went just as I expected with my melee monsters dealing as much damage as I can. As I did not use a magic monster, my opponent's summoner didn't help him. Also my focus on speed definitely helped me quite a bit and I would not be surprised to know that my opponent's misses were due to the difference in speed. I think my line up was fairly good and I wouldn't change it.

One thing to note on my opponent's side was that he was primarily focused on seeing magic monsters come out. This is obvious since he had void magic and -1 magic from his summoner. Any magic build would have a hard time taking out his front line tank. In my case, I used Unicorn Mustang but built my line up with physical monsters. So when his tank went down, I didn't think there was any chance I would lose. I guess he did play Venari Wavesmith to add armor to counter melee cards but it wasn't enough. If I had to say one thing my opponent could of done better then it would be to choose some cards with higher speed next time.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would of done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
