A Real Convo, Not Aliens

A very quick illustration

Yep, you read the title right. Despite the repetitive syllable, it sure is a real conversation. 😏

Imagine hearing this conversation in a foreign country. 🤣 And-- the language is Tagalog (Filipino).

Lemme break it down for you.

This conversation usually occurs in lobbies or hallways when taking the elevator.

Jiji: Bababa ba? (Is it going down?)
Anon: Bababa. (It is going down.)
Jiji: Ah.. bababa. (Oh, it is going down.)
Anon: Opo, bababa. (Yes, it is going down.)

Concept and sketch

Since this is just a quick illustration, I just straight up did the lineart. I am just relying on my memory right now. The character I used is my Jijisaur avatar and my dino (no name yet up until now). So my idea is just a one-panel comic (if that is what is called). I just searched for a funny Filipino conversation on Google. There are a lot of nice dialogues, to be honest, but I chose this confusing one, haha!

I tried to write the letters but seems like my penmanship is unreadable so I better used the Text tool.

For the coloring, I just used the color pick tool and bucket tool. Life is easier with these tools if you know to use them properly. By the way, I am using Clip Studio Pro Paint.

I chose a gray color for the speech balloons and neutral purple for the background. There is nothing much to say, haha!

I did this illustration for 30 mins. but took much time looking for the perfect dialogue, and got distracted reading them, haha!

As an outsider, I don't understand from experience, but the context is funny! It made me think of the fictional character, Bob Loblaw, Attorney at Law from the show Arrested Development. That look on your dino's face 😆, also funny.

In our state "bababa" is like a troll word when you can't answer a question xd. Amazing how that word have many different meanings in your country.

That word is pretty much useless except for our state lolz. I don't know what it translates to in other languages of our country so use it at your discretion 😂😂😂.
