I'm Looking for Community, Not Elon

The winding road that lead me to becoming a HIVE member was rooted in past expectations not coming into fruition with my attempts at online marketing success and hard knock life lessons in my personal life.

Throughout paths in front of me that I subjectively deemed disastrous and successful are part of who I am and what I post about without any trepidation, because that is how comfortable I feel on this blockchain.

The three core aspects of HIVE, community, development and use case including a fourth that I like to include, vision.

The most important of all four, to me, is community. That is what keeps me coming back.

I'm not going to bullshit you and say that I don't have an earnings interest, because there is always that and it would be hard for me to believe that anyone here does not want to build or grow a nice future nest egg on/with HIVE.

Perhaps I'm wrong here, but nevertheless; I'm sure the percentage of folks that are here to earn as much as possible, is in the very high percentile.

Let's face it, there are a bazillion ways to earn an income as an entrepreneur and there are those who wake up and just have the knack of earning a buck as soon as their eyes open.

There are those who game the system and those who are methodical in their process and those who do it with their hands, their knowledge of numbers, their art.

Even here on HIVE, this blockchain would not survive without those who help keep it going and yes there will always be a small group of folks that can do that. We need them.

From a personal standpoint I could easily settle in and hang out in Gary Vee's discord and just learn everything from him, invest in his NFT's and just go all in.

I've followed Gary Vee for years. I resonate with his stuff A LOT. Not the NFT shit lol. But when you hear him talk about the power of NFT's from a business standpoint, it's hard to refute it.

The guys knows his shit. Period!

Then there is Elon. I mean imagine if he gets involved with anything on HIVE. Just utters a word about this blockchain. I mean anything bad or good and it's a whole other level for HIVE at that point.

But, YES we will all benefit if that would happen and YES I want it to happen.

What I don't want to happen is for this blockchain to become about one person.

I am on this blockchain EVERYDAY, because I'm part of an amazing community.

The awesome part of HIVE is the folks who wouldn't have the opportunity to stand out in a sea of "influencers" on traditional off chain social media platforms, but can do so on this blockchain. Communities on this blockchain are very supportive and also serve as mentors without asking for too much if anything in return.

I understand that for HIVE to remain viable that content creation has to be at a higher level, but if it becomes about just a few who can post something as long as war and peace or have the ability to educate folks, etc. then where does that leave those who don't have that ability?

For now, I feel that we have that chance to post how we feel and to just continue to post your articles, opinions and your photos or anything that some may find interesting or can relate to.

If we get to the point where it's about a chosen few or worst yet about one person then what's the community's role? To be minions? To be a fan who goes to a stadium (at least in the US) and pay hundreds of dollars to see a game and watch millionaires play that game?

It's awesome to have those influential folks on HIVE, because I'm also realistic that without them this blockchain would be shit or heck wouldn't even exist from what I've heard or read about how it forked into HIVE.

I became a member here, because of @jongolson and before HIVE was even a thought and throughout my online marketing journey followed him and he always preached community.

So of course we want someone like Elon to discover how incredible HIVE is, but would we want it to be about Elon and prepare for the whole dynamic of this blockchain to change or is it about a community that will stick together even when someone like Elon comes along?

I'm looking for community not Elon.

I feel the same but I also think many who come here are not yet see the long-term value of all of this. maybe one they when some one like Elon or someone from hive becomes like Elon their are going to be people that feel regret for not burning the mid night candle

Can someone talk me through the pros and cons?

A few "what might happen if HIVE caught Elon's eye" scenarios?

It's playing out in my head with Dwayne Johnson as Elon (other actors are available) but that tells me I'm thinking disaster scenario, probably mixed up with a little screwball/rom-com/road trip/bromance, but disaster is what is mainly flashing up for me.

That doesn't have to be a bad thing, to misquote: Elon is just another layer of folded steel as we forge this Katana of crypto but clearing up the debris after a train crash like that would take some doing.

It would be hugely entertaining, and we do like that on Hive and in the world generally.

I’m not savvy enough to know what exactly would happen, but have seen plenty of things go to shit in my lifetime when they get to that next level where the rich gets richer and the rest fight for the scraps.

A small group trading in Korea can pump the HBD/Hive price as they please and we want to cosy up to someone that influences the global price of Bitcoin?

We do have work to do in the world. That work will happen. We don't need to set fire to our drawers.

I agree that it would be good to get a high-profile person involved with Hive, but it must remain about community and not just one person.
The way this blockchain is developed, I don't think we would lose community.

I've once thought about Elon finding out about Hive and did a huge investment in it... It will be for a good on the blockchain but I also thought that what if he finds a thing he didn't like on Hive and badmouths about it on twitter?

That would have an effect on the blockchain because he is that powerful as a rich guy.

So valuing our community more is very important as it would help us more than some big guy discovering us.

But I still want him discovering about Hive too though 😆

Someone like Elon could do more harm than good to Hive. I would much prefer Elon to keep busy with his car factories and space conquering and leave Hive to grow naturally.

Getting a high-profile person involved with the Hive would be great but only if it was the right person. There are some high-profile people out there who could do more harm than good.
