Living in the state of Florida for about 15 years and visiting often 10 years on top of that, I’ve visited my share of beaches.

Of course, I’m many beach visits away from visiting many more.

With our recent getaway we/I had been at that side of Cocoa Beach a few times through the years.

As I’ve mentioned in my previous posts the beaches on this side of where I reside are not my favorite, but I love my time on a beach and will ultimately retire in a Florida beach town.

When Tiffany, her boys and I took that boardwalk stroll the day before we checked out of the resort the fun fact sign I posted was definitely eye opening.
“Florida has over 663 miles of beaches. No matter where you are in the state, you’re never more than 60 miles from one!”

There was no credit on the sign, so I did a search and found the info to match the fact about the 663 miles of beaches: https://www.stateofflorida.com/facts/

Thank Tiffany and I have pretty much chosen the Florida beach town we want to retire in: Englewood, Florida towards the Sarasota area; but it’s great to know, there could be many more options.

Although Cocoa Beach won’t be a place we would retire in, we have fun up that way and I’m sure the beach photos I posted from my iPhone10 camera roll that I recently took are still enticing.

I really appreciate the idea of retiring by a quiet, serene beach side town and waking up to nothing but the tranquil sound of waves splashing.

At this point in my life, I would probably get bored quite quickly as ever time I have stayed in such a place for longer than a week, I find myself yearning to go back to the hustle and bustle.

Maybe I'm just not there yet!

@elmerlin - I can’t believe I’m reaching that point lol.

It seemed like yesterday I was partying 24/7 and detested the thought of living in Florida and here I am.

Being born and raised in New York made everything pale in comparison.

Age wears you down for sure.

From New York to Florida, how long did it take you to fully adapt?

I’m still adapting @drlobes 🤪

Being a New Yorker is a whole other level.

It never goes away.

It’s more like assimilating than adapting to Florida for me.

Thanks John.

Me too, that’s why I had to find something else with that fact.

Definitely a fun fact 🏖

Only 60 miles from a beach. That makes for a fun life. Thanks for sharing.

Yep the 60 miles is true, I lived in Central Florida and being so close to the coasts is one thing about Florida that I loved!
