"De música ligera"(Of light music) is a famous song by the legendary Argentinean band Soda Stereo. This song was published as a single to promote the "discazo" Canción Animal that was released on December 20, 1990.

Considered by many fans as one of the best songs of this trans-Andean band, it was written by its creative leader and guitarist, Gustavo Cerati with the main idea of paying tribute to music and its creation during dreams and thoughts simply... with good music.

Cerati mentions that "De Musica Ligera (Of light music) is one of the most instantaneous songs that I have ever written" and also points out: "The first thing I always write is the chorus, which here was: "from that love of light music". Then he talks about the music itself: "she slept in the heat of the masses and I woke up wanting to dream about her". That's it, that's the music talking! Between us we felt and knew that this theme was going to explode. Sometimes you feel that. And because of the instantaneous way it came out, it was as if it had been played by ten thousand groups before. Maybe it wasn't like that... Ten thousand groups played it after!

The concept of "Musica Ligera" (light music) had its origin when Cerati found a collection of records called "Light Classics of all times" that was on a shelf in his parents' house. From then on he started to think about the song, until he got to the idea of composing a song whose music would be simple, common and at the same time have classical tints, all this under a very light spirit. In that way Cerati created a riff, and from that riff he started working with the band in the recording studio.

This song went down in the history of Latin rock and Argentine rock as an emblematic song and almost a continental anthem. In addition, with this song it was made clear that Soda Stereo would not stay stuck in the sounds and hairstyles of the 80s and that they were capable of adapting their music to the change of decade, thus managing to extend their great rhythmic legend.

Enjoy it!
