Here's the ruleset

My opponent and I were both thinking about the Armored Up ruleset for this battle. We had a low mana cap and wanted to get under the opponent's armor. We also wanted to utilize some free hits with our own armor.

Summoner: Obsidian

Obsidian gives my whole team +1 magic and that's important because magic gets under the armor that everyone is starting with.

The mana cap is only 13 but that's enough for 3 magic monsters to pair with obsidian for 6 magic damage per turn.

Tank: Fungus Fiend

I don't expect this monster to deal much damage but it can soak up a hit or 2 while my magic monsters go to work.

1st position: Furious Chicken

This plays a role very similar to the Fungus Fiend. A level 1 Chicken doesn't deal any damage but it can soak up a hit or 2, hopefully giving my magic attackers time to do some damage.

2nd position: Djinn Biljka

This is a magic attacker that costs less than 4 mana. The Camouflage ability means that my opponent can't target this monster while it's on the back line.

3rd position: Queen Mycelia

image.png

This is my best monster and I placed it in the best protected position of my lineup because it gives everyone else 2 more armor with the Protect ability.

4th position: Khmer Princess

Another magic attacker and this only costs 2 mana. I put this behind Queen Mycelia to soak up a couple of potential sneak attacks because they would have gone right past Djinn Biljka.

Did my strategy work?

Not at all. It looked as if my opponent knew my lineup ahead of time. The Armored up Ruleset puts a premium on magic attacks and it makes sense to anticipate magic from your opponent. My opponent did a better job of this than I did.

Do I like Furious Chicken?

Yes, this is a fantastic card. It frequently soaks up 1 or more hits for the low low mana cost of FREE. You can't beat that. My opponent also recognized the value of Furious Chicken and put one in front to soak up my first shot.

What will I try differently next time?

My opponent anticipated magic attacks and I could have too. I could have played Unicorn Mustang and my opponent couldn't have done anything about it. Alternately I could have played something from the death splinter myself. Thaddius Brood or Owster Rotwell would have been great for anticipated magic attacks.

Thanks for reading and thanks for all the upvotes, reblogs, comments and follows. I'll see you in the game.
