Visiting British Colonial Architecture in Bangladesh

(Edited)

I am very interested in traveling. I try to travel whenever I get a chance. Our country has some historic British buildings, which I love to explore. I have told you about several British colonial establishments in my earlier posts. Today I will tell you about my trip to one such establishment.

It is a railway workshop located in Saidpur Upazila. It is one of the largest railway workshops in Bangladesh which is famous since the British period. The British operated various railway operations from Saidpur. Due to this, several important railway structures, British facilities, churches etc. were built there.

The facilities inside the railway workshop were amazing. A small museum has been built there. The museum was not visited. A railway coach used by the British Queen is preserved in this workshop. The permission of the authority is required to inspect the railway coach.

A variety of machinery can be seen inside the railway workshop. Actually it is a huge workshop of railways. Here engine repair, maintenance and many other works related to railways are done. It is an important workshop of Bangladesh. The surface of the entire workshop area is so huge that it will be difficult for you to visit such a large workshop in one day. I was exhausted after visiting some areas of the workshop.

The British installations of the workshop were simply fantastic. The amount of history hidden in these places is beyond words. Bangladesh government plans to build an advanced workshop next to these structures to preserve these structures of the British era. Undoubtedly, these structures are important to us and we should preserve them and create an opportunity for everyone to know about their history.
