Sarah rushed past her neighbor who looked at her surprisingly for she knew something must be wrong with Sarah to have walked this fast. Sarah quickly dashed into her one bedroom apartment and drew her locker out. She was all sweaty and her room was equally hot from the harsh weather and stuffy room, making Sarah more uncomfortable. She picked out a bottle of water from her stack of water and wished the water could become chill instantly to satiate the heat she felt all within her body. She took out two tablets of analgesic despite being warned by her physician that she needed only a tablet of the analgesic.

Her body quivered as much as her abdomen ached. The world seemed to spin round her head as she held her tommy and wrenched in pain. She almost let out a cry for the pain seemed unbearable. She wondered when exactly the pain killer would commence its work.

Sarah’s life had been a work to home life with little social life. She could count the number of friends she had and only very few knew her monthly cramps could be severe enough to get her admitted. Her mother had told her she had similar severe monthly cramps when she was also in her teenage years which subsided after she conceived and delivered. Sarah’s thoughts ran wild as she could do anything to get rid of this periodic ache.

She lay on her tommy and put a pillow underneath to raise her a little. She wondered if she should plead with her neighbor to help massage her back as she had read online such therapy could be effective in ameliorating her pains. She resolved then to reduce her sugary intakes as she read it could further aggravate her cramps. Would she be able to let go of her cigarettes and alcohol intake? These seemed to be the closest of companions she had as her solitude life was one that she disliked.

“Thank goodness”, she sighed when she began to feel relief from the waning pain. She removed the pillow from underneath and lay supine with her eyes on the house ceiling. Her lower back felt as though it would break as she tried to stand up and quickly, she reverted to her supine position. Sarah knew she had to find a quick solution and perhaps seek a therapist or medical expert to help modify her lifestyle. ‘This periodic pain was top severe for her to endure’, she thought to herself as she finally picked up courage to sit up. She picked up her mobile phone searched for a nearby hospital to book an appointment. At this point in her life, she knew she was willing to adhere to whatever her doctor would prescribe including cessation of cigarette smoking and reduction of sugary foods.

Thank you for reading through. Sarah is one of the many ladies out there that battle with menstrual cramps and fail to seek medical attention or timely. Being a woman should not subject one to an avoidable pain. If there are lifestyles that worsen menstrual cramps, such should be cut-down.

There are words of mouth testimonies and there are schools of thoughts. Some say the cramps get better after childbirth as some of the prostaglandin receptor sites are eliminated at childbirth
