How conscious your fashion/dress sense should be

(Edited)

The fashion empire and the world at large continue to be bamboozled by new and different dress attire. The popular saying is that the way you are dressed will determine how you are addressed, and on a good number of occasions, few people have a consciousness of good dressing.

Your dressing can come as per the occasion's demands. This is where you choose your attire as the occasion demands. Not too long ago, I mentioned how I wore native attire where my colleagues wore suits. I couldn't go back and had to stand out in an odd manner. My dressing was not bad, but it was not in tandem with the occasion. There are occasions that also pick color codes, such as weddings, burials, etc.
Beyond dressing, your dressing should be in tandem with the occasion.

ACCEPTABLE DRESSING:

A. CORPORATE OUTFIT

Complete corporate dressing requires a tucked-in shirt in a pant, trouser, or skirt, with a shoe and tie to match. This can be complemented with or without a suit. A good number of times, color combination is the problem, and I am not exempt. There are rules as regards color and even color ties as they relate to your shirt. A good corporate outfit doesn't have to be expensive to be classy; simple wear is good enough to make a good impression.

B. Native attire

Nigerians, for one, are known for their rich cultural heritage, and we usually dress to match our heritage. Generally, native wear comes in simple forms, such as a sewn "kaftan" on a trouser, or complex forms with an overflowing "agbada". These dresses are a beauty to adore, especially when your designer is skilled and sews your outfit to match your body. It is common to have a cap or scarf (or gele, worn by most African cultures in different styles).

C. Simple outdoor wear

Such wears are simple and could range from a polo, T-shirt, round neck, etc., with a corresponding pair of short knickers, trousers, skirt, etc. These kinds of clothes can be worn outdoors when going to picnics, games, strolls, etc.

All dressings listed should be smart and appreciated.

UNACCEPTABLE DRESSING

Generally, the word unacceptable means such dressing is not acceptable by culture, tradition, law, or norms. Such dressings are better worn within the confines of the home. Dresses that expose sensitive parts of the body are termed provocative dressings and are generally unacceptable. Such may be found in clubs or extreme parties, but seeing such on the streets does not speak well of the individual wearing such.

Dressing is not limited to the clothes you put on. Your other accessories, such as bracelets, wrist bands, and watches, make overs, hairstyles, and, more importantly, your facial expressions. All these are the spices in your dressing, just like spices are to food. This is where the taste matches the appearance. The mirror reflects our dressing, but a spouse, friend, or child are more loyal mirrors of how you look to the public.

It's mainly in Nigeria we do the "unacceptable" dress. To me, provide a person is well covered and comfortable in what they're doing, I think I particular dress to be comfortable. But, you look dashing in all the dresses
